This will include both day and night coverage - remaining on site - to be available for all calls for spiritual care throughout the night and during holidays. Interfaith Chaplains work alongside Resident chaplains and the interdisciplinary care teams at AMC.</p> <p>ALBANY MEDICAL CENTER</p> <p>Position Description</p> <p>Position: Interfaith Chaplain</p> <p>Position summary: Under the direction of the Department Manager, the Interfaith</p> <p>Chaplain will provide spiritual and emotional support to patients, families, staff, and students at AMC Hospital. Interfaith Chaplains work alongside Resident chaplains and the interdisciplinary care teams at AMC.</p> <p>Interfaith</p> <p>Chaplain</p> <p>Education: Master of Divinity, Master of Theology, Master of</p> <p>Pastoral Counseling or Master of Arts in Religion, or equivalent.</p> <p>Certification: Certification by Association of Professional Chaplains,</p> <p>National Association of Catholic Chaplains, National Association of Jewish Chaplains, Spiritual Care Association, or Certification eligible and obtain certification within two years of hire.</p> <p>Experience: At least four Units of Clinical Pastoral Education.</p> <p>Skills & Knowledge: Active listening, empathy, ability to identify spiritual needs and respond to them effectively; knowledge of spiritual care tools for self and others</p> <p>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Responsible for the delivery of spiritual care to patients and families in collaboration with the department. </li><li>Carrying trauma and code pagers and responding to requests for spiritual care in emergencies. </li><li>Provides on-call night coverage for the hospital, making rounds on the intensive care units and responding to all calls for a spiritual presence during their on-call hours, 5:00pm to 8:00 am. </li><li>Supports staff in difficult situations involving patients, their families, or simple job-related stress. </li><li>Be available for consults with staff, families, and patient when deemed necessary by any member of the health care team (chaplain included). </li><li>Offers spiritual assessments, grief support, religious services, and crisis counseling. </li><li>Participates in all department programs and activities, such as quarterly meetings, huddles, and Spiritual Care Elective program for 4th-Year Medical Students. </li><li>Participate in and successfully completes Mandatory Education. </li><li>Clear and timely charting of patient care in Electronic Medical Record. </li><li>Contribute to the wider community by assisting in the coordination of clergy and spiritual visitors from various religious communities </li><li>Provides reliable support and back-up for intern chaplains and other volunteers within the department. </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS</p> <ul> <li>Walking and standing frequently. </li><li>Occasional overnight hours </li></ul> <p>Work Schedule: Day, night, weekend, overnight (5:00pm-8:00am) shifts</p> <p>Thank you for your interest in Albany Medical Center!</p> <p>Albany Medical is an equal opportunity employer.</p> <p>This role may require access to information considered sensitive to Albany Medical Center, its patients, affiliates, and partners, including but not limited to HIPAA Protected Health Information and other information regulated by Federal and New York State statutes.
