<p>Position Information</p> <p>Position Title Police Sergeant Position Number 500234 Salary Range $50,648.00 Special Entrance Rate - $92,851.00 Hires at Minimum Rate Position Type Classified Staff</p> <p>Department Information</p> <p>Ending Effective Date of Temporary Employment Department University Police</p> <p>Job Duties</p> <p>Responsibility / Duty</p> <p>Function of Work: To protect lives and property by conducting foot and mobile security patrols; enforcing parking and traffic regulations; rendering emergency services; investigating crimes and making arrest when necessary. Provides a wide range of police services.</p> <p>Performs all the duties required of lower-level officers as necessary.</p> <p>Percentage Of Time 30 Responsibility / Duty</p> <p>Oversees and evaluates performance of lower-level officers on an assigned shift.</p> <p>Percentage Of Time 20 Responsibility / Duty</p> <p>Reviews and signs all reports submitted by lower-level officers.</p> <p>Percentage Of Time 20 Responsibility / Duty</p> <p>Conducts roll call and officer, vehicle, and equipment inspections.</p> <p>Percentage Of Time 10 Responsibility / Duty</p> <p>Serves as training officer by planning and coordinating training programs.</p> <p>Percentage Of Time 10 Responsibility / Duty</p> <p>Maintains firearms, armory, and other equipment.</p> <p>Percentage Of Time 10</p> <p>Posting Detail Information</p> <p>Minimum Experience Required</p> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>Three years of law enforcement experience.</p> <p>EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:</p> <p>Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience. The maximum substitution allowed is 60 semester hours which substitutes for two years of experience.</p> <p>NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:</p> <p>Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.</p> <p>Possession of a valid Louisiana driver's license.</p> <p>Possession of an active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification may be required.</p> <p>An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.</p> <p>Minimum Education Required</p> <p>High School diploma or equivalent.</p> <p>Minimum Licenses Required Other Minimum Requirements</p> <p>Applicants must complete the application in its entirety with an electronic signature and date.</p> <p>Resumes will not be accepted as a substitute for the application.</p> <p>If education and employment history are not completed, the application will be disqualified. The applicant's POST certification shall not be under suspension or pending a revocation hearing</p> <p>OR</p> <p>2)A veteran of the armed forces who served at least 90 days of active duty for purposes other than training and who has been honorably discharged from active duty within the previous twelve months.
