<p>Job Description:</p> <p>BROAD FUNCTION</p> <p>The Accessibility Coordinator, working under the supervision of the Director of Office of Accessibility Resources, is responsible for providing direct service to students and/or prospective students with physical, psychological and/or learning disabilities, in order that they may attend and be successful at OCC.</p> <p>MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Maintains current knowledge of legislation, regulations, and rulings relative to individuals with disabilities and appropriate college procedures. </li><li>Reviews legal and medical documentation as well as psycho-educational testing, to determine accommodations for individual student need within the college setting. </li><li>Conducts initial intake and information exchange with each student as appropriate. </li><li>Determines student needs, coordinates support services, and monitors student progress within the framework of these supports. </li><li>Mentors students, to the greatest degree possible, on the nature and impact of her/his disability and how to appropriately advocate for their needs within the college setting and how to access all available supports. </li><li>Uses adaptive technology to facilitate access. </li><li>Supports students within our campus community as a conduit to outside services for assessment / evaluation purposes. </li><li>Maintains student records and assists with internal and external reporting as needed. </li><li>Serves as a liaison between student, campus community, outside agencies and institutions. </li><li>Serves as informed communicator in helping faculty and staff to understand the nature of disabilities and the impact of those disabilities upon student learning styles and academic performance. </li><li>Conducts presentations on and off campus. </li><li>Participates in professional meetings, conferences and training workshops as assigned. </li><li>Serves on committees and completes special assignments as requested. </li><li>Other relevant duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or foreign equivalency in Special Education, Vocational Education, or a closely related field. </li><li>At least two years of professional experience in a related field </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li> <p>Master's degree from an accredited college or university or foreign equivalency</p> </li><li> <p>At least two (2) years' experience in teaching or tutoring disabled adults or adolescents and providing appropriate accommodations, case management services and/or counseling based on student needs.</p> </li><li> <p>Bilingual in English and Spanish. English and another language will be considered.</p> </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Understanding of Section 504 ADA rights and the interpretation of psycho-educational testing. </li><li>Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a member of a team. </li><li>Working knowledge of computers and adaptive technology is desirable. </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Salary range is: $44,000 - $50,000, commensurate with credentials and relevant experience.</p> </li><li> <p>Onondaga Community College offers a generous and competitive benefits package including:</p> </li><li> <p>New York State Local Retirement System (pension) or an Optional Retirement Plan (401a).</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent health, dental, and vision insurance plans (qualifying domestic partner included).</p> </li><li> <p>Onondaga Community College participates in the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program for eligible borrowers.</p> </li></ul> <p>Application Instructions:</p> <ul> <li>To be considered, please submit a resume and cover letter at time of application. </li><li>The three (3) references listed on the application must be professional references, one of which must be a current or former supervisor.
