<p>The Registered Nurse - Practice Excellence & Staffing Methodology Coordinator functions as an advanced clinician and executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches based on the American Nurses Credentialing Center's (ANCC) Pathway to Excellence (PTE) and Magnet Recognition programs to maintain nursing excellence throughout the facility.</p> <p>The Registered Nurse - Practice Excellence & Staffing Methodology Coordinator influences organizational outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team to carry out functions and activities that support nursing excellence. Responsible and accountable for integrated programs that cross service and/or discipline lines and influence the organizational mission. Follows procedures per established policies and guidelines and executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, specialized experience, and creative approaches to program management and analysis. Demonstrates sound decision-making and judgment and possesses excellent interpersonal skills.</p> <p>The RN demonstrates leadership, experience, and creative approaches to improvement in quality-of-care outcomes. Fosters positive professional practice environments by building, supporting, and creating alignments for nursing excellence and steering innovation through collaboration and stakeholder engagement across the facility, Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN), and enterprise. Requires or authorizes employees to formulate, determine, or influence the polices of Veterans Affairs (VA). Demonstrates leadership and creative approaches to the design and implementation of programs and initiatives that improve patient outcomes and engagement of nursing staff related to professional (shared) governance, evidenced-based practice (EBP), a high reliability organization (HRO), and other performance improvement (PI) tenants. The RN - Practice Excellence demonstrates participation in strategic planning and alignment of goals at the service, facility, and national level. Applies knowledge of data, information, processes, organizational interactions, skills, and analytical expertise, as well as systems, networks, and information exchange capabilities to document outcome. Assumes leadership in promoting professional development and provides coaching and mentoring to nursing staff.</p> <p>The RN is responsible for program development related to professional governance, EBP, PI, and professional development; project implementation; oversight of data collection and analysis; designing useful decision support systems; delivering educational experiences; enhancing lifelong learning; and supporting healthcare innovation. Areas of responsibility include all patient care areas in which nursing services are delivered regardless of organizational alignment.</p> <p>The RN performs duties directly contributing to the administrative management of a health care delivery system. Duties require the ability to apply the specialized principles and practices of health care management in directing or supporting a health care delivery system. Fosters a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of healthcare professionals. Contributes professional nursing perspective in discussions with the interdisciplinary team. Partners with others to effect change and produce optimal outcomes. Supports colleagues through knowledge sharing to provide safe, quality nursing care. Shares educational findings, experiences, and ideas with peers. Questions clinical practices for the purpose of providing evidence-based care. Participates in activities and strategies to sustain evidence-based-practice.</p> <p>As Staffing Methodology Coordinator, the incumbent is responsible for: ensuring VA St Louis leadership, Facility Expert Panel and Unit-Based Expert Panels are educated on requirements to meet full compliance with VHA Directive 1351. Facilitates Facility Expert Panel, reporting VA St Louis facility data requests to ONS through VISN CNO. Training stakeholders in staffing methodology processes, tools and resources. Maintains appropriate documentation of FEP and UBEP staffing methodology.
