This is your opportunity to embrace a new beginning!</p> <p>The Savannah Police Department is seeking fifteen (15) customer-service focused Community Services Officer to perform various non-emergency public service-related functions. If you are hardworking, motivated, dependable, and you are ready to take the next step, then we want you on our team!</p> <p>We offer an excellent benefits package to include health, dental and vision, defined contribution plan (457 B), life insurance, wellness programs, vacation, sick leave, 12 paid holidays, employee assistance program, employee referral program, employer home purchase assistance, and tuition reimbursement.</p> <p>Women, minorities and Veterans are encouraged to apply!</p> <p>Essential Job Functions</p> <ul> <li>Writes up various types of police reports, i.e. crime/incident reports, supplemental reports, burglary, theft, fraud, and battery, worthless document reports, missing person report and runaway juvenile incidents. </li><li>Investigates motor vehicle traffic accidents on private property, writes traffic accident reports, tow vehicles, and issues traffic citations. </li><li>Enforces City of Savannah Codes and Ordinances (i.e.; parking violations, handicap violations, illegal boat parking, etc.) </li><li>Directs traffic and responds to calls for service that are non-emergency in nature. </li><li>Participates in special details such as transporting victim/witnesses, DUI checkpoints, and special task force and holiday events. </li><li>Assists police officers in any non-hazardous situations. </li><li>Processes crime scenes, i.e. photographing, latent print recovery, collection and preservation of physical evidence, requesting laboratory examination, canvassing and suspect elimination fingerprinting. </li><li>Testifies in civil and criminal court proceedings and gives depositions as required. </li><li>Works in conjunction with other departments or local agencies engaged in various traffic problems or code compliance tasks, i.e., fire codes, municipal health and sanitation codes. </li><li>Provides information and/or assistance to the public, victims, witnesses and relatives concerning available services in the community. </li><li>May be required to operate a motor vehicle in performance of assigned tasks. </li><li>Performs other related duties as required. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>High School Diploma or GED.
