<p>Position Summary</p> <p>The Crisis Center of Tampa Bay brings help, hope and healing to people facing serious life challenges or trauma resulting from sexual assault or abuse, domestic violence, financial distress, substance abuse, medical emergency, suicidal thoughts, emotional or situational problems. The MSW Intern supports this mission by providing clinical counseling services to clients impacted by trauma, in addition to assisting with community outreach and awareness. This position reports to an on-site supervisor that is established prior to hours being completed.</p> <p>Strategic/Transformational Duties and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Deliver therapeutic services rooted in evidence-based practices including CPT and TF-CBT. </li><li>Promote trauma-informed healing through individual and group therapy. </li><li>Assist with community education and awareness initiatives to expand understanding of trauma. </li></ul> <p>Transactional/Administrative Duties and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Provide therapy for survivors of trauma, including, but not limited to, domestic violence survivors, sexually abused juveniles and adult rape victims, adult incest survivors and their families, individually, in group sessions, and/or family sessions. </li><li>Conduct client intakes, psychosocial assessments, and case management services. </li><li>Develop treatment plans, maintain accurate clinical documentation, and diagnose using DSM criteria. </li><li>Develop curriculum and lead psychoeducational and support groups for clients. </li><li>Complete outcome measures and receive state rating certification as required by funding sources. </li><li>Participate in staff meetings, trainings (including ACT Service Training), and outreach events. </li><li>Participate in community awareness and advocacy activities. </li><li>Collaborate with other professionals including courts and child welfare when needed. </li><li>Document client cases within 24 hours of seeing the client. </li><li>Assist in the coordination of clinical services as assigned by the supervisor of client representatives. </li><li>Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the on-site supervisor. </li><li>Represent the agency on task forces and professional panels. </li></ul> <p>Required Competencies</p> <ul> <li>Cooperation/Teamwork- Works toward win/win solutions. Makes appropriate and timely decisions. </li><li>Valuing & Fostering Diversity- Demonstrating respect for individual differences and establishing a climate where all people can be comfortable and productive through sensitivity, empathy, and acceptance of cultural, racial, mental health, and socio-economic diversity. </li><li>Self-Management- Taking of responsibility for one's behavior and well-being; Working effectively under stress and adapting one's style to changing situations; Comfortable working in a fast paced environment, and needs minimal supervision; Exhibiting a professional demeanor. </li></ul> <p>Education and Experience</p> <ul> <li>Must be actively enrolled in a Master's in Social Work (MSW) - Other Master level interns considered. </li><li>Background check required. </li><li>Bilingual (Spanish) preferred. </li><li>Reliable transportation and valid Florida driver's license required. </li><li>Completion of 30-hour self-study within 30 days of hire. </li><li>Signed Intern Agreement required. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of issues of Trauma and Trauma Informed Care. </li><li>Knowledge of community resources. </li><li>Ability to collect and evaluate data. </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. </li><li>Ability to prepare reports relating to clients. </li><li>Ability to work independently. </li><li>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. </li><li>Ability to problem solve. </li><li>Ability to organize and prioritize work. </li><li>Ability to accurately assess and diagnose clients. </li><li>Skill in counseling others in attaining self-sufficiency. </li><li>Skill in the application of crisis intervention techniques. </li><li>Skill in operating Windows based computer operating programs. </li><li>Knowledge of and compliance with HIPAA regulations. </li><li>Have knowledge of and compliance with the policies and procedures of the Agency. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands/Working Conditions</p> <p>Physical Requirement: This position regularly requires the ability to sit for sustained periods of time and to effectively communicate with and assess clients, using verbal and nonverbal cues. This position also requires the ability to operate office equipment.</p> <p>Working Conditions: Duties are performed primarily in an office setting. On occasion will require the use of transportation to travel to meetings and could be exposed to changing weather. The noise level is quiet.</p> <p>Travel: Occasional between locations and within Corbett Trauma Center.</p> <p>Hours: Must be able to work a flexible schedule which may include mornings, afternoons and/or evenings.
