<p>The Engineering and Computer Science Librarian is a critical member of the Syracuse University Libraries' Subject Instruction Team, situated within the Department of Research and Scholarship. They ensure that the Libraries collections and instructional services support the academic and research needs of students, staff, and faculty in the College of Engineering and Computer Science (ECS) related academic programs and research centers. The Librarian provides essential services, including reference assistance, instruction, and collection development, and serves as the Libraries point of contact for ECS.</p> <p>As a member of the Subject Instruction Team, the Librarian supports faculty and students through curriculum-based instruction, workshops, and programming, and fosters collaborative relationships with faculty to support instruction in research methods, identifying and assessing relevant source material, citation management, and other information literacy skills. The Librarian provides specialized instruction that addresses the unique needs of learners with varying skills, abilities, and learning styles. Participate in the marketing, development, implementation, assessment, and provision of outreach programs for Libraries services. </li><li>Select materials in coordination with Collection Development and Analysis Librarians and perform other relevant discipline-specific collections activities as needed. </li><li>Create, deliver, and evaluate instructional and consultative services related to artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and emerging technologies that advance research, teaching, and learning. </li><li>Creating instructional materials, teaching workshops, and consulting faculty/staff/students on AI practices on topics such as prompt engineering, machine learning libraries, computational linguistics, and research methods. </li></ul> <p>Subject Instruction Team</p> <ul> <li>Supports team programming through the coordination and delivery of research roundtable workshops and other instructional initiatives that advance research skills and information literacy across the University. </li><li>Develops, coordinates, and delivers workshops and programs that support research skills for students at all levels, both within engineering and computer science and across disciplines. </li><li>Partners with the Graduate School and other University units to deliver outreach and plan and deliver research-related instruction, workshops, and programming, including dissertation bootcamp and graduate student orientation. </li><li>As a member of the subject instruction team and in conjunction with the Libraries¿ Information Literacy Program, develop and provide University information literacy instruction.
