Some benefits of working at Schupan:</p> <ul> <li>People-first culture </li><li>Career advancement and growth opportunities </li><li>Weekly pay </li><li>Discretionary bonuses available: $90/month gas bonus, end-of-year bonus </li><li>Medical, dental, company paid employee only dental, dental for dependents, company paid core vision for employee and family, </li><li>HSA, FSA,fitness incentives, wellness premium discount </li><li>401k and match eligibility </li><li>Company-paid group life and AD&D, voluntary life, short and long-term disability </li><li>Pet insurance, paid parental leave, tuition reimbursement, and EAP </li></ul> <p>SUMMARY</p> <p>The CDL-A Hazmat Driver is responsible for driving company roll-off, luggers, open-tops, and van trailers to transport scrap material, including hazardous materials, to and from specified locations for processing.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - CDL-A Hazmat</p> <ul> <li>Load/unload lugger boxes, roll-off boxes, dry vans and flatbeds as required </li><li>Service customers as directed by dispatcher/manager and work schedule </li><li>Safely transport hazardous materials (hazmat) from one location to another, adhering to strict regulations and safety procedures </li><li>Load and unload hazardous materials as needed, inspecting the vehicle and cargo </li><li>Maintain safe and professional driving on the roads and at customer locations </li><li>Verify all loads are safe for the road </li><li>Weigh in and out on the scales; complete and process all paperwork pertaining to the load </li><li>Inspect vehicle and notify maintenance of any concerns </li><li>Secure cargo for transport, using ropes, blocks, chain, binders, tarping systems, or covers, and protect materials as needed </li><li>Follow all company safety policies/procedures and federal/state regulations with regard to vehicles, to include, reporting all accidents/incidents </li><li>Identify different types of scrap metals and materials </li><li>Clean and perform basic up-keep/maintenance on assigned vehicles </li><li>Must have effective communication skills in order to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, and to write routine reports and correspondence. </li><li>Keep all required logs and records current and accurate to comply with company policies/procedures and federal/state regulations and laws </li><li>Comply with all applicable ISO procedures </li><li>Must have and maintain valid hazmat certification </li><li>Must be able to interact in person with coworkers and the public. </li><li>Must be able to handle high stress situations. </li><li>Perform other related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS STATEMENT</p> <p>To accomplish this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation, each essential function satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to help enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>POSITION QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE</p> <ul> <li>CDL A license with an acceptable driving record and a valid medical card </li><li>Hazmat certification, or ability to be certified before hire date </li><li>1-3 years of verifiable related driving experience </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS</p> <ul> <li>Remain in a seated position for 65% of the scheduled shift. </li><li>Frequently operates controls to position, load, and unload the truck. </li><li>Frequently lifts and moves materials and tools weighing up to 50lbs to load/unload and tarp the truck, and perform basic maintenance. </li><li>Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. </li><li>Follow safety procedures for safe vehicle operation. </li><li>Quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions. </li><li>Write routine reports and correspondence. </li><li>Routinely performs repetitive movements such as bending, twisting, reaching and lifting. </li></ul> <p>The company has reviewed this job description to ensure that essential functions and basic duties have been included.
