As pioneers in fiber optic gyros, ring laser gyros, and MEMS technologies, we drive innovation across a wide range of navigation applications.</p> <p>Senior Electrical Engineer</p> <p>Location: Concord, CA Job Type: Full Time Department: Engineering</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design efforts from concept through completion. This role requires a deep understanding of customer requirements and the ability to translate them into robust electrical solutions. The ideal candidate will bring leadership and technical expertise in mixed-signal circuit design, development, and worst-case analysis across analog and digital domains.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Lead electrical design efforts from concept through production, including schematic capture, PCB layout, and system integration. </li><li>Perform detailed analysis and simulations of analog and digital circuits to ensure performance and reliability. </li><li>Define electrical subsystem architecture based on the Statement of Work (SOW). </li><li>Support project planning by estimating resources, timelines, and costs. </li><li>Prepare and review technical proposals and Basis of Estimates (BOEs). </li><li>Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate electrical designs into larger systems. </li><li>Solve complex design challenges using innovative, non-standard approaches. </li><li>Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for design and production issues. </li><li>Update and modify existing analog and digital designs to address electronic part obsolescence issues. </li><li>Develop and present materials for Program Management Reviews (PMRs), Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs), and design reviews. </li><li>Estimate manpower requirements and manage engineering schedules to meet project milestones. </li><li>Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering technical growth and electrical engineering best practices. </li><li>Stay current with industry standards, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering required; master's degree preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>7+ years of experience in electrical engineering, including:</p> </li><li> <p>Design, analysis, and troubleshooting of complex circuits, schematics, and embedded systems.</p> </li><li> <p>Proficiency in analog/digital design tools such as OrCAD, Altium, or equivalent.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience with FPGA/ASIC design and microcontroller-based architecture.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong understanding of signal integrity, power distribution, EMI/EMC, and thermal management.</p> </li><li> <p>Extensive experience in programming, testing, and debugging electronic components and assemblies.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated critical thinking skills, ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.</p> </li><li> <p>Minimum 4 years of experience in space, aerospace, or military applications.</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all organizational levels.</p> </li><li> <p>Expert in low-noise analog circuit design.</p> </li><li> <p>Capable of flex-rigid PCB design.</p> </li><li> <p>Able to conduct PCB functional testing.</p> </li></ul> <p>Preferred Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Experience in the design, development, production, and testing of sensor systems, inertial navigation systems, spacecraft, and space mission hardware. </li><li>Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills in electrical design. </li><li>Hands-on experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and power supplies. </li><li>Proficiency in simulation and design tools such as SPICE, Simulink, or MATLAB. </li><li>Strong team collaboration skills and openness to feedback from peers and leadership. </li></ul> <p>Compensation: The salary range for this role is $142,000 - $191,000 annually.</p> <p>Benefits:</p> <p>EMCORE LLC offers a variety of benefits including health and disability insurance, 401(k) company match, flexible spending account, Employee Assistance Program, education assistance, parental leave, paid time-off, and paid company holidays.</p> <p>If you're passionate about electrical design and ready to work on cutting-edge projects, we'd like to hear from you!
