<p>JOB SUMMARY: The Group Exercise Instructor is responsible for leading and teaching group exercise classes in a safe and appropriate manner. Classes such as: Cycling Body Sculpt Hard body 45 Core Boot Camp.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>JOB SPECIFIC CORE COMPETENCIES:</p> <ul> <li>Strong Communication Skills: Supervisor is made aware of finding coverage for classes when substitute instructor is needed, checking HWC Email weekly, greeting members with exceptional customer service. </li><li>Adaptability: Is flexible to needs of members with all backgrounds, gives member full experience at the level appropriate for them, has positive outlook when there is a change in schedule. </li><li>Responsible attitude to health and safety: Performs safe and effective group ex classes, remains knowledgeable and proficient in services, and responds appropriately to emergency situations. </li><li>Time management: Arrives before start of class time to set up and stays after for proper cleaning and attends scheduled meetings. </li></ul> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Performs safe and effective group exercise classes </li><li>Arrives before start of scheduled class time to set-up, clocking in per the GEI clock-in policy </li><li>Greets members and guests by name and with a smile, and delivers world-class customer service at all times </li><li>Finds substitute instructors for own classes when needed and notifies Group Exercise Supervisor and/or Fitness Manager of changes. When a sub cannot be found, finds a replacement instructor to offer a replacement class of a different format, but as similar as possible to the original class </li><li>Follows established procedures when equipment is found to be malfunctioning in an effort to return it to operational status as quickly as possible, including notifying the Group Exercise Supervisor and/or Fitness Manager, and recording the problem in the equipment log binder </li><li>Is knowledgeable, aware of, and proficient in all facility rules, regulations, and policies, and enforces them when applicable </li><li>Is knowledgeable and aware of current information on all center programs, services, and activities, and promotes them regularly </li><li>Responds to all emergency situations per facility policy and procedures </li><li>Maintains high level of professionalism, in accordance with organizational standards of behavior </li><li>Maintains continuously all annual education requirements (CBL's) and BLS/CPR certifications </li><li>Assumes other duties and projects as assigned </li></ul> <p>LICENSURE/CREDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>BLS (Basic Life Saving)/CPR certification required. </li></ul> <p>ADDITIONAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>General group exercise OR specialty certification in area of classes taught at HWC within 6 months of hire </li><li>BLS (Basic Life Saving)/CPR certification required within 90 days of hire </li><li>Excellent communication and customer service skills required </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Experience teaching group exercise classes in a community, commercial, or hospital-based fitness center </li></ul>
