<p>Title: Assistant or Associate Professor (School of Nursing)</p> <p>Date: April 14, 2026 Supersedes: N/A</p> <p>Supervisor: Kathleen Wisser</p> <p>Salary: $65,000-$72,000/annually</p> <p>FLSA: Exempt Type of Position: 12 month Faculty (Full-time)</p> <ul> <li>Reporting Relationships </li></ul> <p>Position Reports to: Contingent upon the primary Learning Site Director, Center for Caring with Technology, Associate Dean, or Director, Nursing Services</p> <p>Indirect Supervisory Responsibility: None</p> <p>Position Backup: Center for Caring with Technology Staff</p> <ul> <li>Position Summary </li></ul> <p>The individual in this position uses a caring science approach to create an environment where actions and strategies lead to developing and strengthening student relationships that create a path to grow as a professional nurse. Responsibilities encompass developing, facilitating, and evaluating clinical simulation and interprofessional collaborative education activities. Additionally, this position comprises teaching responsibilities in the CCT. As a member of the School of Nursing, she/he contributes to the successful achievement of course and program outcomes, and philosophy and mission of the School of Nursing and University.</p> <ul> <li>Essential Functions </li></ul> <p>Teaching Related:</p> <ul> <li>Facilitate effective student learning in the clinical/lab setting and the online learning </li></ul> <p>environment using evidence based strategies.</p> <ul> <li>Guide students to recognize and evaluate social determinants of health, and individual and environmental cues. </li><li>Utilize the designated clinical judgment framework when applicable. </li><li>Provide guidance for students in the CCT setting related to professionalism, practice, clinical judgement, and evidence-based practice. </li><li>Ensure effective evaluations of student practice and skill validations. </li><li>Provide feedback about the teaching/learning process to Course Coordinators when designated. </li><li>Share responsibility for the planning and implementation of assigned courses, program planning activities, and other needs of the academic programs. </li><li>Participate in the development and progress of the academic programs by contributing to the development of curriculum, teaching materials, and evaluation measures. </li></ul> <p>Simulation Related</p> <ul> <li>Maintain up-to-date knowledge in regards to nursing curriculum, simulation scenarios, policies, and requirements. </li><li>Assist faculty and CCT staff to implement the curriculum using simulation as a pedagogy. </li><li>Use the School of Nursing designated debriefing(s) method to optimize the debriefing experience and maximize learning during simulation. </li><li>Provide support to standardized patients or other simulation participants. </li><li>Maintain clinical competence and knowledge pertaining to an area of expertise. </li><li>Monitor on-going daily operation of the CCT and maintain communication between staff and Director. </li></ul> <p>Other:</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrate commitment to continued professional learning. </li><li>Maintain active membership in selected professional nursing organizations, as needed. </li><li>Perform similar, comparable or related duties as assigned or required. </li><li>Qualifications </li></ul> <p>Education and Experience</p> <ul> <li>Current, unencumbered professional registered nurse license in Maryland </li><li>A Master's Degree in Nursing is required. May have a plan for completion of Master of Science in Nursing Degree within three (3) years. </li><li>Previous experience in the use of simulation as a pedagogy (preferred). </li><li>Teaching competence-Evidence of a minimum two years of teaching experience (preferred). </li><li>Clinical competence-Able to function with professional accountability in clinical settings. </li></ul> <p>Skills/Aptitude</p> <ul> <li> <p>Commitment to Caring Science as a way of being in the School of Nursing.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of Standards of Best Practice: Simulation (INACSL).</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of the use of high fidelity, midlevel fidelity, and low fidelity simulators and other technology based learning systems.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, faculty, staff, students, and others.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work within established procedures, guidelines, and follow directions</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to handle several assignments simultaneously.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments.</p> </li><li> <p>Possess excellent communication (written and oral) and efficient organizational skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Position Hours and Pay</p> </li></ul> <p>Typical work hours for this position are Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.</p>
