Provides the framework and interventions that enable students to have a safe, productive, and successful educational experience. For more information visit our New Employee Resources page. </li></ul> <p>What You'll Do:</p> <ul> <li>Actively engages in identifying student needs, especially when it has to do with their academic or social lives, and provides/suggests solutions where necessary. </li><li>Consults with teachers, parents, and school personnel about learning, social, and behavioral issues. Confers with teachers and parents regarding the student's strengths, opportunities for growth and aptitudes. </li><li>Maintains a positive school environment through effective conflict resolution, collaboration, positive reinforcement, and modeling. Implements curriculum and restorative approaches feedback to develop positive social skills. </li><li>Performs attendance related advising to assigned student caseload to motivate students to establish and achieve their attendance goals. Assists in the application of appropriate interventions for chronically absent students. </li><li>Develops community partnerships that are willing to offer programs and/or services for students at the school in alignment of identified needs. </li><li>Establishes and maintains accurate student records and files regarding attendance and disciplinary issues. Analyzes and reports data findings to school leadership, including Intervention Plans when necessary. </li><li>Refers students to school counselors or social workers, especially in situations that have escalated beyond academic or social concerns. </li><li>Coordinates with school counseling and other staff to be kept apprised on issues affecting a students' academic performance and/or social conflicts with teachers, students and parents. </li><li>Promotes school and in-home literacy enrichment for at-risk students to support student engagement and necessary resources. </li></ul> <p>What You'll Need:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Bachelor's Degree or relevant work experience required.</p> </li><li> <p>Bachelor's Degree in Education preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Three (3) years minimum experience and demonstrated success in working collaboratively with other professional staff on instructional improvement issues.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience working with alternative youth and service providers preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work in a diverse educational community setting.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated success in working collaboratively with other professional staff on instructional improvement issues.</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent verbal and written communication skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent Interpersonal (mediation) skills needed to resolve problems that may arise between teachers and students or parents and teachers.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong ability to gather, analyze, and interpret student data to make sound decisions.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated success in restorative approaches as part of the discipline process.</p> </li><li> <p>Exhibits a passion for working with youth and young adults.</p> </li><li> <p>Pursues ongoing personal and professional growth.</p> </li><li> <p>High degree of integrity in handling confidential information.</p> </li><li> <p>Proficiency in computer applications, including Google suite, e-mail, and internet applications preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Bilingual skills in Spanish preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.</p> </li><li> <p>Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.</p> </li><li> <p>Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.</p> </li></ul> <p>Denver Public Schools is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, gender expression, and sexual orientation), parental status, national origin, age, disability, genetic information (including family medical history), political affiliation, military service, or any other status protected by law or regulations.
