It's mission is to provide a stable, relational, and flexible learning environment that bridges the gap between clinical support and academic achievement. By fostering a strong home-school connection and focusing on post-secondary transition, we empower students to look beyond immediate obstacles and take ownership of their future.</p> <p>The Grove at the Academy is seeking a special education teacher position is responsible for delivering instruction, facilitating inclusive practices, providing case management, and supporting classroom and individual aides for students who qualify for special education. The teacher will deliver instruction in the school, community, home, and virtual environments. The teacher will develop academic, functional, social development, and behavior regulation skills for students with disabilities. The teacher works collaboratively with school staff, support personnel, administrators, parents, and community members to facilitate the educational benefit and positive post-secondary outcomes for students. Must possess or be able to obtain appropriate Illinois credentials for position and have excellent human relations skills and demonstrated professionalism, EL Certification and Bilingualism preferred. Experiences with the following are sought: facilitating a hybrid learning environment, trauma informed practices, fostering peer supports, behavior management skills, assistive technology, research-based strategies for students with emotional disabilities.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Manages post-secondary transition planning and ensures that students are meeting graduation requirements and making progress on IEP goals. </li><li>Customizes curriculum to fit the students' individual learning plans and IEP goals. </li><li>Readiness to implement a digital curriculum (1:1 iPad instruction). Manages the digital platform in a hybrid setting and ensures the academic work is accessible during "home" days. </li><li>Strong understanding/knowledge of strategies and techniques related to executive functioning, differentiation of instruction, modifying curriculum, developing, and teaching a foundational curriculum. </li><li>Provides specialized instruction based on individual learning plans and IEP goals. </li><li>Develop instructional programming that could meet a wide range of student abilities and educational needs. </li><li>Provide specialized instruction in both classroom and virtual environments and in both synchronous and asynchronous formats. </li><li>Manages a caseload of special education students. </li><li>Frequent communication with families and students. </li><li>Participates in regular home visits to provide individualized social emotional and academic support to students, increase student engagement, provide parent coaching and consultation, and collect data to support IEP goals. </li><li>Assist in staff and program development, with particular emphasis on student engagement and trauma. </li><li>Provides supportive services to students with disabilities, including but not limited to participation in the IEP development as appropriate and in compliance with IDEA/ISBE regulations. </li><li>Act as Local Education Agency (LEA) Representative for Annual Review and IEP progress review meetings. </li><li>Collaborates with building leadership and staff to ensure equity is infused in practice and remains at the forefront of efforts to disrupt inequities. </li><li>Skilled at planning and utilizing the support of Instructional Support personnel. </li><li>May include flexible hours in order to connect directly with families within the community.. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>State of Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a LBS1 Endorsement. </li><li>Master's degree preferred </li><li>Possess highly developed interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills. </li><li>Possess excellent communication skills. </li><li>Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable. </li><li>EL certification or bilingualism preferred </li></ul> <p>Join Our Community:</p> <p>District 214 offers a supportive and collaborative environment where professionals are empowered to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students.
