The NYPD strives to foster a safe and fair city by incorporating Neighborhood Policing into all facets of Department operations and solve the problems that create crime and disorder through an interdependent relationship between the people and its police, and by pioneering strategic innovation.</p> <p>The Brooklyn Tow Pound operates under the NYPD's Traffic Enforcement Division and is responsible for the intake, storage, processing, and release of vehicles towed for parking violations, unpaid fines, and other enforcement actions. As one of the busiest tow pounds in the city, the Brooklyn facility operates 24/7 and plays a key role in maintaining traffic safety and regulatory enforcement across the borough.</p> <p>The NYPD is seeking a qualified Cashier Level 1 to support the administrative operations of the Brooklyn Tow Pound. Responsibilities include processing payments received from customers and credit card transactions, preparing documents and batches for data entry into accounting systems and deposits checks and money orders to the bank through remote deposit. They will review payments received and send appropriate correspondence to customers who have not submitted the appropriate forms. However, all candidates must have at least one year of full-time experience as described in "1" above.</p> </li></ol> <p>Preferred Skills</p> <ul> <li>Exceptional organizational and analytical skills -Superior oral and written communication and negotiation skills -Strong desktop computer application knowledge and skills (MS Outlook, MS Work, Excel) -Ability to manage a wide range of projects, simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. </li></ul> <p>55a Program</p> <p>This position is also open to qualified persons with a disability who are eligible for the 55-a Program.
