<p>In addition to the salary listed above, this position is eligible for 5% premium pay for positions located in King County.</p> <p>The hiring committee will begin conducting interviews the week of January 5th.</p> <p>About the Position:</p> <p>As a Deputy State Fire Marshal - Inspector in this position is responsible for completing fire and life safety inspections of state licensed facilities, including nursing homes, hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, assisted living facilities, group homes, residential treatment facilities, enhanced services facilities, childcare facilities and schools. Provide training, education and information when required and conduct acceptance inspection in support of the plan review program.</p> <p>This position reports to a Chief Deputy State Fire Marshal in the Fire Prevention Division.</p> <p>About the Division:</p> <p>The Fire Prevention Division is active in providing a variety of Fire Protection services including all risk mobilization, fire inspections on licensed care facilities, plan review of schools, data collection, analysis, hazardous materials training, and the licensing and certification of the fire sprinkler, fireworks, and cigarette industries to both public and private sectors. These sections provide planning, training, and technical assistance for firefighters and emergency responders who are mobilized for statewide emergencies such as hazardous materials, earthquakes, nuclear facilities, as well as other high-risk situations.</p> <p>This position supports the Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) Designation - For Disaster or Emergency Recovery</p> <p>This position is listed in the COOP essential functions for coordination and assistance with assessing licensed care facilities (hospitals, nursing homes, etc..) fire and life safety systems following a major disaster.</p> <p>About the Agency & Division:</p> <p>The Washington State Patrol is committed to being an Equal Opportunity Employer and strives to foster an environment in which everyone is encouraged to be their authentic selves, communicate openly, and act with courage. Overtime may be required to fulfill inspection functions. </li><li>Perform construction inspections to ensure compliance with applicable fire and building codes in support of the Bureau plan review program. </li><li>Assists in the development and presentation of fire safety and prevention programs to reduce fires within the state. </li><li>Develop a working partnership with jurisdiction within the assigned geographic area for the duties assigned. </li></ul> <p>The type of employee we are looking for:</p> <ul> <li>Experience conducting fire and life safety inspections </li><li>Strong time management and organizational skills </li><li>Excellent communicator </li><li>Excellent customer service </li><li>Ability to work independently with limited supervision </li><li>Ability to make decision based on the level of responsibility assigned to the position </li><li>And the ability to adjust schedule to meet business needs </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or GED equivalent. </li><li>Two years of experience as a fire prevention officer, code enforcement officer: or insurance industry inspector. </li><li>High School Diploma and WA State Divers License. </li><li>Successfully complete pre-employment polygraph/background check with the WSP. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to effectively analyze information and communicate decisions and recommendations related to fire and life safety requirements: organization and time management skills; knowledge and ability to apply state construction methods and materials. </li></ul> <p>Conditions of Employment</p> <p>Must complete within 1st year of employment: ICC Fire inspector 1 and 2, CMS Life Safety Code, IFSAC Fire Instructor I, IFSAC Fire Inspector I or NFPA Fire Inspector I.
