<p>Summary</p> <p>Under the supervision of the Front Registration Manager, the Eligibility Specialist will be responsible for eligibility verification for all BACHC patient services.</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Promotes and believes in BACHC mission statement "Helping People Heal". </li><li>Believes and aligns with BACHC core Values of Compassion, Respect, Integrity, Accountability and Teamwork. </li><li>Treats everyone equally regardless of racial, ethnic, religious, social, and economic status or background. </li><li>Retrieve verification of all patient insurance coverage; primary, secondary, and tertiary. </li><li>Contact insurance companies via phone or online to verify eligibility. </li><li>Log on to external payer portals to verify Medi-cal, Medicare, and Commercial coverages. </li><li>Identify correct/contracted IPA information is assigned under patients' health coverage. </li><li>Ensures Payor ID is correctly entered in the guarantors and coverages section in patient chart. </li><li>Activate new coverages when applicable; inactivate coverages that have termed. </li><li>Identifies and updates Payor ID errors to reduce delays in payment/denials of claims. </li><li>Responsible for the input of insurance verification notes in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. </li><li>Call patients prior to appointment to inform and relay changes to insurance as they occur. </li><li>Conduct eligibility and verification of benefits for all scheduled patients prior to appointments. </li><li>Provide excellent customer service to internal and external clients/patients by being responsive to all inquiries in a timely manner. </li><li>Performs job duties collaboratively with health center management and exercises good judgement. </li><li>Fosters and promotes a culture of service excellence and accountability with a focus on patient safety. </li><li>Consistently adheres to a high standard of professional ethics; conducts self in an ethical manner and is a role model to others. </li><li>Attending all staff meetings and assigned training. </li><li>Perform other related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Skills / Competencies</p> <ol> <li> <p>Customer Service</p> </li><li> <p>Attention to Detail</p> </li><li> <p>Thoroughness</p> </li><li> <p>Organizational Skills</p> </li><li> <p>Communication</p> </li></ol> <p>Physical Demands</p> <p>This is mostly a sedentary role. The ability to sit at a workstation and perform data entry for extended periods of time may be required.</p> <p>Position Type and Expected Hours of Work</p> <p>This is a Part-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:00am-5:00pm. Work hours will be 24 hours weekly within clinic hours with occasional pre-approved overtime.</p> <p>Travel</p> <p>On occasion travel will be required.</p> <p>Education and Experience</p> <ul> <li>High school graduate, GED, or equivalent required </li><li>Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) </li><li>Previous Customer Service experience </li><li>Must have working knowledge of multiple insurance practices. </li><li>Must have working knowledge of insurance/billing policies and procedures. </li></ul> <p>Other Duties</p> <p>Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
