<p>Position: Category Manager I</p> <p>Location: Louisville, KY/ Allentown, PA</p> <p>Duration: 12 months</p> <p>Job ID: 176061</p> <p>Job Overview:</p> <p>The purpose of this role is to manage the supply chain for a wide variety of corporate requirements and issue contractual commitments with an estimated value of up to $100 million per year. The Category Manager I will be responsible for procuring various design-build services, construction services, engineered equipment, software, engineering services, commodities, and indirect services. This role ensures quality and schedule compliance, determines contract models and strategies, manages inventory levels, administers contracts, conducts negotiations, performs market and financial analysis, develops supplier relationships, and drives continuous improvement. The position requires an experienced professional who can work independently with minimal supervision and provide guidance to others.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Develop negotiation strategies and company positions on complex contracts, working with legal counsel to ensure appropriate commercial protections. </li><li>Perform market and financial analysis to assess business risks and mitigate them effectively. </li><li>Analyze and resolve claims and disputes associated with complex procurements. </li><li>Manage the supply chain process from need specification through contract administration and investment recovery. </li><li>Evaluate sources of supply and develop optimal pricing methodologies and performance requirements. </li><li>Identify new sources of supply and maintain professional relationships with suppliers based on ethical business practices. </li><li>Support complex capital projects by developing contracting strategies and managing contract performance. </li><li>Act as the corporate expert for assigned categories, understanding market drivers, supplier bases, and emerging technologies. </li><li>Serve as the primary liaison to suppliers within assigned categories. </li><li>Engage in face-to-face interactions and coordination of work among clients, suppliers, and co-workers on-site three days per week. </li><li>Perform other duties and projects as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, supply chain, or related field, or 5 years of related experience. </li><li>Minimum of 2 years of experience in logistics, materials, or services buying. </li><li>Knowledge of supply chain and market dynamics for products, equipment, and services. </li><li>Basic understanding of business law, commercial terms, and related legal issues. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.), Certified Professional in Supply Management (C.P.S.M.), or other supply chain certifications. </li><li>Background in Lean, Six Sigma, or similar process improvement methodologies. </li><li>Strong negotiation and analytical skills. </li><li>Effective written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. </li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and databases. </li><li>Demonstrated problem-solving skills and customer service focus. </li><li>Proven project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. </li></ul> <p>About PTR Global: PTR Global is a leading provider of information technology and workforce solutions.
