<p>DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL</p> <p>Join our dynamic team at DDRC in Denver/Lakewood, CO, as a Direct Support Professional! All applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, protected veteran status, or any other status protected by applicable law.</p> <p>Job Responsibilities</p> <p>DAY PROGRAM - Direct Support Professional</p> <p>As a DSP in our Day Program, you'll help people build skills, foster independence, and enjoy fulfilling days within a variety of settings.</p> <p>What You'll Do</p> <ul> <li>Coach essential life skills and encourage social engagement. </li><li>Provide individualized supports that help people develop or maintain skills to live life as independently as possible. </li><li>Lead or assist with creative, recreational, and community-based activities. </li><li>Help people navigate their goals and preferences throughout the day. </li><li>Contribute to a fun, supportive, and engaging program environment. </li><li>Complete factual, timely documentation related to the people served. </li><li>Foster a strong sense of belonging and inclusion with people served, team mates and greater community. </li><li>Provide transportation using DDRC vehicles. </li></ul> <p>RESIDENTIAL - Direct Support Professional</p> <p>As a Residential DSP, you'll be part of a dedicated team creating a safe, stable, and supportive home environment.</p> <p>What You'll Do</p> <ul> <li>Provide individualized in home and community supports that help people develop or maintain skills to live life as independently as possible </li><li>Advocate for and champion the rights, dignity and choice of the people served </li><li>Assist people with maintaining relationships with friends and family and natural supports that are important to them </li><li>Plan community activities that align with choice and that facilitate true community integration and inclusion </li><li>Support with medical or behavioral interventions that promote dignity and age appropriateness </li><li>Create opportunities for people to explore personal passions, hobbies and to access education for new experiences </li><li>Complete factual, timely documentation related to the people served </li><li>Foster a strong sense of belonging and inclusion with people served, team mates and greater community </li><li>Provide transportation to appointments and community activities </li></ul> <p>What You Bring to Either Role</p> <p>To excel as a Direct Support Professional at DDRC, a variety of essential skills and qualifications are necessary.</p> <ul> <li>A high school diploma or GED is required. </li><li>Strong preference for candidates possessing at least one year of paid work or related volunteer experience, particularly with individuals with developmental disabilities. </li><li>Empathy and a genuine passion for supporting others are vital. </li><li>Current driver's license along with a motor vehicle record that meets DDRC Policy. </li><li>Willingness to drive a large van and a variety of vehicles. </li><li>Basic computer skills will aid in necessary documentation. </li><li>Ability to work varied hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. </li><li>Most importantly, a willingness to learn, a problem-solving mindset, and a compassionate spirit are essential traits that will empower you to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those you serve. </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>Physical stamina to assist people safely, including the ability to stand, pivot, and perform transfers. </li><li>Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching. </li><li>Ability to push, pull, and position wheelchairs and other adaptive equipment. </li><li>Sufficient manual dexterity to support personal care and the use of adaptive equipment. </li><li>DDRC is an Equal Opportunity Employer and are committed to providing reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals with disabilities in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). </li></ul> <p>CULTURE & ENVIRONMENT:</p> <p>Our team is dedicated to creating an inclusive, supportive environment where individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities can thrive.
