<p>Assistant Nurse - Long Term Substitute BURGESS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL Anticipated Start Date: August 25, 2025 School Year 2025-2026</p> <p>REPORTS TO: Building Principal/Building Nurse</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Assists in managing the school health services program under the direction of the Nurse and Principal and in compliance with school district health policies, procedures, and protocols </li><li>Strengthens and facilitates the educational process by improving and protecting the health status of students </li><li>The focus of school nursing services is the prevention of illnesses, early detection and intervention of health problems. </li><li>Collaborate with School Nurse regarding medical needs, care plans, medication plans and communication with parents and medical specialists. Provide other nursing care as determined by School Nurse. </li></ul> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Provide school health services to students </li><li>Maintain health records including daily health visits </li><li>Document mandated school screenings and immunization compliance </li><li>Coordinated school health activities and health education </li><li>Serve as a liaison between school, home and community regarding health issues </li><li>Communicate with families regarding school attendance </li><li>Deployed to Union 61 elementary schools to serve as substitute nurse on occasion if needed </li><li>Other duties as assigned by the building principal and building nurse </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>MA License as a RN </li><li>Current Massachusetts certification in CPR, AED and First Aid </li><li>Approved CORI and Fingerprinting results </li></ul> <p>Kathy Pelley, Principal Burgess Elementary School 45 Burgess Road Sturbridge, MA 01566 pelleyk@tantasqua.org</p>
