We recognize that a person's life experiences can provide firsthand knowledge relevant to being successful in the work that we do.</p> <p>The Geraldine E King Women's Resource Center provides emergency shelter and housing case management services to single women experiencing homelessness in Salt Lake County. The center will: recognize and address the distinctive needs and barriers in obtaining housing for women experiencing homelessness. The Geraldine will aim to provide a safe, resident-centered, trauma informed environment. All activities will be undertaken with the goal in assisting all clients in obtaining housing.</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>The Program Director will help create and supervise a program that will give every resident the best opportunities to receive safe emergency shelter and stabilization services and to obtain housing.</p> <p>Essential Duties</p> <ul> <li>Manage the program implementation of best practices and maintain the fidelity of those practices including, but not limited to, Trauma-Informed Care, Motivational Interviewing and active case management techniques. </li><li>Supervise Management Team: provide weekly supervision, provide case consultation and informal mentoring, encourage training and development opportunities, and support each staff member to comply with program expectations and outcomes. </li><li>Ensure that the best practices of Housing First, Trauma-Informed Care and case management standards are adhered to. </li><li>Provide administrative oversight for all programmatic requirements, including a deep knowledge of Housing system, coordinated entry, UHMIS, reporting requirements and outcomes. </li><li>Assist in developing and leading the innovation and implementation of new programming in line with organizational vision and strategy. </li><li>Create and utilize the program budget to create a productive and desirable work environment for staff, the safest emergency shelter for women, and to obtain the highest housing outcomes for residents. </li><li>Ensure that the program fulfills all contractual requirements with Shelter the Homeless including compliance with the conditional use permit, all applicable laws and licensing standards. </li><li>Support public relations and fund-raising efforts of the agency and Shelter the Homeless, as authorized by the VOA Senior Management team, to ensure the financial success of the program and Volunteers of America, Utah. </li><li>Promote safety and collaboration in the neighborhood around the HRC. Proactively work with neighbors on concerns related to the program, facilitate the Neighborhood Advisory Meeting and any other activity to promote a positive relationship with the neighbors and businesses around the HRC. </li><li>Ability to uphold professional boundaries, confidentiality regulations, agency policies and procedures, and interact in a professional manner with a diverse workforce, clients, and the public. </li><li>Willingness to accept supervision and direction. </li><li>If driving is a part of the job, must be at least 21 years of age, possess a current driver's license, have a good driving record, and be insurable on the agency liability policy. </li><li>Must be able to pass Utah-DHS - Office of Licensing background screening and pre-employment drug screen. </li><li>Attend work as scheduled and arrive at the designated time. </li><li>Work must be performed on-site (with limited remote work availability based on supervision approval) due to the need to provide support, direction, and program oversite to staff and clients. </li></ul> <p>Secondary Duties</p> <ul> <li>Supports state coordinated entry system (HMIS), including entry of data, following rules and procedures related to data entry, tracking and reporting, as needed. </li><li>Contribute to Volunteers of America, Utah management activities including management meetings, leadership activities and agency initiatives. </li><li>Develop new partnerships with other agencies in order to enhance our current services. </li><li>Actively contribute to community collaborations with providers, community organizations, and any other organizations whose services impact HRC residents. </li><li>Complete payroll and pay-related functions in a timely manner. </li></ul> <p>Requirements</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.</p> <p>A Bachelor's degree, but preferably a master's degree and licensure, in a social services field or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training. Other required knowledge, skills and abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Direct experience working with people experiencing homelessness. </li><li>3 years supervisory and administrative experience in a social service setting. </li><li>2 years budget management and program development experience. </li><li>Knowledge of mental health and substance use disorder treatment best practices. </li><li>Knowledge and understanding of Motivational Interviewing techniques, Stages of Change models, Trauma Informed Care principles and how to operationalize them within an emergency shelter for women. </li><li>Ability to interact with residents and staff by demonstrating genuine empathy, concern and understanding of their experience while maintaining professional boundaries. </li><li>Proficient in Microsoft Office </li><li>Must be able to move around the building and property. </li><li>Possess a current driver's license and have a good driving record. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands</p> <ul> <li>Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs. </li><li>Ability to move around the facility, interacting with clients or staff for extended periods. </li><li>Work is generally performed in an office environment. May entail using a computer for extended periods of time. </li></ul>
