<p>Elementary School Counselor Job Description</p> <ul> <li>Provides individual student academic planning and goal setting </li><li>Provides school counseling classroom lessons based on student success standards </li><li>Conducts short-term, crisis, and group counseling to students to help students cope effectively with personal, social, academic, career, and family concerns. </li><li>Maintains student records and protects student confidentiality </li><li>Adheres to ASCA guidelines </li><li>Provides leadership to establish and maintain the school counseling program and to develop activities and resources for the successful implementation and evaluation of the program. </li><li>Conducts referrals for long-term counseling support </li><li>Collaborates with families/teachers/ administrators/community members for student success </li><li>Advocates for students at individual education plan meetings and other student-focused meetings </li><li>Utilizes data analysis to identify student issues, needs and challenges; acting as a systems change agent to improve equity and access, achievement and opportunities for all students </li><li>Provides leadership and collaborates with the school administration and teachers to provide class lessons that support academic achievement, college and career readiness and social/emotional success. </li><li>May provide the tours for prospective families orientation of new students. </li><li>Monitors students progress and coordinates an intervention program, which involves attendance, social/emotional skills, and academic achievement. </li><li>Comes up with plans/ideas to help parents support their children more at home with academics as well as social/emotional needs. </li><li>Plans and helps conduct special events and activities such as College Go Week, Career Activities, Bullying Prevention Week, Child Abuse/Neglect education, The Great Kindness Challenge, 4th grade Maturity Program, Thanksgiving an Christmas. Counselor will also support staff with the implementation of Conscious Discipline. </li><li>Assists the administration in student behavior issues to implement necessary interventions. </li><li>Assists the administration in the collection and interpretation of data to best meet student needs. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned. </li><li>Educates staff on issues requested by administration </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <p>Candidate must be a team player, flexible, and willing to work with others.</p> <p>Must hold a valid School Counseling license or willing to pursue.</p>
