Set near the Ohio River and adjacent to Clifty Falls State Park, the facility provides both on-grounds and off-grounds work opportunities. It includes a 72-bed work-release program that supports re-entry preparation. Incarcerated individuals participate in programming, job assignments, and educational opportunities tailored to rehabilitation. Staff promote a supportive environment where individuals can build practical skills and confidence. Programs emphasize treatment, personal improvement, and readiness for reintegration. To learn more about Madison Correctional Facility, click here.</p> <p>Salary Statement:</p> <p>The salary for this position traditionally starts at $59,800.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.</p> <p>A Day in the Life:</p> <p>The essential elements of the job duties:</p> <ul> <li>Direct the operation of the powerhouse in determining work priorities, planning maintenance, construction, and repairs to ensure safe and efficient generation and distribution of steam and water systems. </li><li>Supervise water softening and water treatment plants, operation of sewage disposal plants and entire </li></ul> <p>electrical and/or air conditioning system.</p> <ul> <li>Implement repairs, renovations, remodeling, or construction to improve powerhouse or for any facility construction jobs. </li><li>Explain to the supervisors and the team changes in policies, programs, or objectives as well as use of new tools and equipment. </li><li>Schedule deadlines and reviews progress and operation of each department. </li><li>Develop training programs for all trades including specialty trades for the powerhouse and water and sewage plants and supervise the implementation of these programs. </li><li>Coordinate and oversee the preventive maintenance program. </li><li>Maintain inventory records, approve requisitions for supplies, equipment and tools and prepare budget recommendations. </li><li>Ensure all safety standards are maintained as per Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines. </li><li>Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development. </li><li>Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.</p> <p>What You'll Need for Success:</p> <p>Individuals in this role should minimally be able to articulate or demonstrate the following:</p> <ul> <li>Thorough knowledge of safety standards to ensure e?cient operation. </li><li>Thorough knowledge of the methods, practices, tools, materials, and equipment used in all trades. Thorough knowledge of the methods involved in operation of all utility functions such as water softening and treatment, sewage disposal, air conditioning and electrical distribution. </li><li>Thorough knowledge of facility and state personnel policies, rules, and procedures. </li><li>Thorough knowledge of and ability to plan, understand and interpret detailed plans, blueprints, and speci?cations. </li><li>Ability to coordinate many separate maintenance, utility, and powerhouse activities into an e?cient, </li></ul> <p>e?ective operation.</p> <ul> <li>Ability to supervise, instruct, train, and direct the work of subordinates. </li><li>Ability to maintain records and prepare a variety of reports and budget justi?cations. </li><li>Ability to foresee problems, adjust, provide long or short-range plans and implementing preventive maintenance programs. </li><li>Ability to delegate work, set clear direction, and manage work?ow. </li><li>Ability to e?ectively give feedback, provide guidance or corrective action, coach, and develop employee skillsets. </li></ul> <p>A degree is not required.
