This position requires physical movement and play with students to prepare students for program implementation.</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>Founded in 1992, the Barbara and Edward Netter Center for Community Partnerships is the University's primary vehicle for advancing civic and community engagement at Penn. It brings together the resources and assets of both the University and the wider community to help solve universal problems such as poverty, health inequities, environmental sustainability, and inadequate, unequal education as they are manifested in the University's local geographic area of West Philadelphia and Philadelphia at large. The Netter Center (Netter) develops and helps implement democratic, mutually transformative, place-based partnerships between Penn and West Philadelphia that advance research, teaching, learning, practice, and service and improve the quality of life on campus and in the community. Netter works with and serves as a model for other higher education institutions across the United States and around the world.</p> <p>The Netter Center's university-assisted community schools (UACS) is a strategy to educate, engage, empower, and serve all members of the community in which the school is located and engage students (K-16+) in real world, community problem solving.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <p>The UACS High School Sports Coordinator will plan, coordinate, and implement UACS Sports programs, including Cross-Grade Sports and school-day PE/Recess support. This position will be largely UACS school-site based with some administrative time spent on campus. This position will conduct on-going program communications with school leadership, and direct support of K12 students, staff, and Penn students engaged in the program. This position will manage UACS Sports equipment and supplies for the program, provide inventory updates, document program activities and support program evaluations. This position will oversee Penn Students that engage in the program. This position will also work closely with Netter staff, District Principals, Deans and Climate Managers to schedule and plan supports that meet school-wide health and fitness goals for students. They will implement some SNAP-Education direct education and Policies, Systems and Environment (PSE). They will provide direct coordination, coaching, and technical assistance of the Penn ABCS volunteers and work-study students engaged in the program. This position is responsible for providing a safe, inclusive environment for sports, games, and play during the school day. They will attend regular stakeholder meetings and plan with the school leadership and Netter center staff. This position will also implement all required program reporting and compliance, including that of funders and the Netter Center.</p> <p>Required Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Education: A Bachelor's Degree and 2 to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience: Experience supporting school-based health initiatives or sports programs. The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of experience specifically engaging a range of K12 youth in sports and fitness activities. A strong candidate will have experience in urban education, supervision, program management and evaluation.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and foster high quality connections and relationships is critical.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be collaborative, flexible, and work productively with diverse groups.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be able to engage in sports and fitness activities, stand for long periods of time, climb stairs, and lift heavy objects.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be able to withstand exposure to outdoor weather conditions for extended periods and loud noise levels.</p> </li></ul> <p>Position Compliance Requirements:</p> <p>Once or while you are completing the University of Pennsylvania onboarding process, you will need to complete additional documents that are largely required by Netter Center funders.</p> <ul> <li> <p>Act 168 UPENN Misconduct Form</p> </li><li> <p>Mandated Reporter Training - staff can be paid for the time to complete this once hired.</p> </li><li> <p>Confidentiality Statement</p> </li><li> <p>National Sex Offender Registry (NSOR)</p> </li><li> <p>UACS Staff Health Assessment - Please schedule a physical appointment with a medical professional and ask them to complete the form.
