<p>ALBANY COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT ONE</p> <p>Laramie, Wyoming</p> <p>JOB DESCRIPTION: Teacher on Special Assignment - Dual Language Immersion and ELL Programs</p> <p>POSITION SUMMARY:</p> <ul> <li>The Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) - Dual Language Immersion/ELL is responsible for the coordination, development, implementation, and evaluation of the District's Dual Language Immersion (DLI) and English Language Learner (ELL) programs. This position provides instructional leadership, program oversight, and support to staff to ensure high-quality services for multilingual learners and fidelity of program implementation across the District. </li></ul> <p>CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>The Teacher on Special Assignment - Dual Language Immersion/ELL:</p> <ul> <li>Coordinates and supports the implementation of the District's Dual Language Immersion (DLI) and English Language Learner (ELL) programs. * </li><li>Provides instructional leadership and guidance to teachers serving multilingual learners, including modeling, coaching, and professional support. * </li><li>Develops, implements, and monitors program structures, schedules, and instructional models to ensure fidelity to DLI and ELL program design.* </li><li>Collaborates with principals, teachers, and support staff to ensure effective instructional practices for multilingual learners across content areas. * </li><li>Supports curriculum development and alignment for DLI and ELL programs in accordance with District and state standards. * </li><li>Assists in the identification, placement, and monitoring of multilingual learners, including oversight of language proficiency assessments and progress monitoring. * </li><li>Analyzes student data to evaluate program effectiveness and guide instructional decisions. * </li><li>Provides and coordinates professional development related to second language acquisition, sheltered instruction, and dual language programming. * </li><li>Serves as a liaison between schools, families, and the District regarding DLI and ELL programming and services. * </li><li>Assists in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and District requirements related to multilingual learners. * </li><li>Supports communication with families of multilingual learners, including facilitating access to translated materials and interpretation services. * </li><li>Collaborates with special education staff and other specialists to support multilingual learners with diverse needs. * </li><li>Provides direct instructional support or services to students as needed. * </li><li>Participates in professional growth (such as professional organizations, coursework, workshops, and conferences) and other professional activities (such as school and/or District committees, taskforces, in-depth studies, or councils). * </li><li>Follows the policies and procedures of the school and the District. * </li><li>Demonstrates a sense of professional responsibility, such as demonstrating ethical behavior; providing accurate data and reports when needed; meeting deadlines; maintaining confidentiality; caring for the equipment and materials; and dressing appropriately and presenting a good role model. * </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li><li>Denotes essential functions </li></ul> <p>(The tasks listed under the heading of Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities are examples of the variety and general nature of duties performed by employees in positions allocated to the classification. This specification should not be interpreted to describe all the duties which may be assigned to an employee at this level.)</p> <p>SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of first and second language acquisition theory and dual language immersion models; knowledge of best practices for multilingual learners; strong instructional and pedagogical expertise; ability to analyze student data and program outcomes; ability to lead professional development and coach teachers; strong organizational and time management skills; ability to collaborate effectively with administrators, teachers, and families; ability to serve as a liaison across schools and the community; ability to lead meetings and support consensus-building. </li></ul> <p>ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>Education: Bachelor's Degree; certification from Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board with an endorsement in ELL/ESL, Dual Language Immersion, or related field.</p> <p>Work Experience: Experience working with multilingual learners required, experience in Dual language Immersion and/or program leadership preferred.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications: Bilingual is Spanish and English preferred</p> <p>PHYSICAL ABILITIES AND WORKING CONDITIONS:</p> <ul> <li>The Physical Abilities and Working Conditions listed in this section are representative of but are not intended to provide an exhaustive list of Physical Abilities and Working Conditions which may be required for this position.
