<p>Northwest Mississippi Community College is seeking a knowledgeable and committed EMT-Basic Instructor to teach in our evening program. This position is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, guiding hands-on skills development, and supporting students as they prepare for entry-level certification and practice. The instructor will uphold the professional, academic, and safety standards of the School of Health Sciences and the Mississippi State Department of Health, Bureau of EMS.</p> <p>QUALIFICATION:</p> <ul> <li>Current National Registry certification as an Advanced EMT or higher (Paramedic preferred). </li><li>Current Mississippi EMS license at the Advanced EMT level or above. </li><li>At least two years of field experience as a licensed EMS provider. </li><li>Current CPR (AHA BLS) certification; ACLS and PALS preferred. </li><li>Strong communication skills and the ability to teach and evaluate EMS skills effectively. </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:</p> <ul> <li>Current Paramedic National Registry and Mississippi licensure. </li><li>Previous teaching, training, or preceptor experience in EMS or related clinical settings. </li><li>Experience with Canvas or similar learning management platforms. </li></ul> <p>WORK SCHEDULE:</p> <ul> <li>Evening classes typically meet two nights per week. </li><li>Additional time may be required for skills evaluations, meetings, and program coordination. </li></ul> <p>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:</p> <p>Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:</p> <ul> <li>Provide evening instruction in both classroom and skills-lab settings for the EMT-Basic curriculum. </li><li>Assess student performance through written examinations, skills check-offs, and competency evaluations. </li><li>Ensure compliance with all state, institutional, and accreditation requirements. </li><li>Maintain accurate and timely documentation of grades, attendance, and student progression. </li><li>Foster a respectful and supportive learning environment that reflects NWCC's expectations for professionalism and student success. </li><li>Collaborate with the Program Director regarding curriculum delivery, instructional needs, and student issues. </li><li>Other duties as assigned by the Director of Emergency Medical Technology (EMT). </li></ul> <p>REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to take initiative to solve problems. </li><li>Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. </li><li>Experience using technology, Microsoft Office Suite, presentation software, etc. </li><li>Strong interpersonal skills to interact tactfully and courteously with students, faculty, staff, and the general public. </li><li>Ability to collaborate with others and work as part of a team. </li><li>Demonstrate oral and written communication skills to interact with a wide range of diverse individuals. </li><li>Flexible schedule is required to meet department needs, as some evenings and extended hours may be required. </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:</p> <p>While performing the duties of this job, the Instructor is regularly required to do the following:</p> <ul> <li>Stand for long periods </li><li>Talk, hear, view, and assist students </li><li>Communicate with others in person, telephone, zoom, & live chat </li><li>Sit, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms </li><li>Stand, walk, stoop, or kneel </li><li>Occasionally lift and/or move items of at least 15-20 pounds </li></ul> <p>APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:</p> <p>To apply, interested must submit and attach the following:</p> <ul> <li>Application at www.northwestms.edu </li><li>Resume or Curriculum Vitae </li><li>Proof of current licensure </li><li>Transcripts </li><li>Three (3) Professional References (Name, Organization, Phone Number and Email Address) </li></ul>
