<p>Care Initiatives is seeking a Corporate Counsel to join our legal team. As the largest single operator of quality nursing homes in Iowa, Care Initiatives has over forty (40) skilled nursing communities, eight (8) hospice offices (and growing!), plus our own internal staffing agency. We are committed to providing exceptional care and support at every stage of the healthcare journey.</p> <p>The Corporate Counsel is a strong generalist supporting the organization's legal function. This attorney will handle a variety of legal matters such as contracting, employment law, and providing regulatory guidance. The Corporate Counsel has sound judgment, effectively collaborates, streamlines processes, and offers practical legal guidance along with recommendations that balance risk.</p> <p>What You'll Do & Key Responsibilities:</p> <p>Provides practical and timely legal advice and recommended solutions to management and other internal stakeholders. Supports the Chief Legal Officer, compliance teammates, and other stakeholders in spotting and resolving legal and regulatory matters to ensure compliance and minimizing risk. Conducts research and provides analysis on a broad range of legal issues and topics. Drafts and reviews of a variety of contracts and other legal documents. Monitors and analyzes changes in laws and regulations impacting the organization and assists with implementation of regulatory changes. Provides legal support to cross-functional projects and develops standardized legal processes, templates, and job aids for use across the organization. Conducts proactive training on legal and regulatory topics. Provides day-to-day legal guidance on employee relations, leave, accommodation, wage and hours, and other employment-related topics. Manages and responds to employment related regulatory complaints, including EEOC and state civil rights commission matters.</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <p>Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an accredited law school Iowa law license in good standing (or eligibility for admission or house counsel registration) At least 3 years of legal experience In-house experience, preferred Employment law and health care experience, preferred</p> <p>Why Choose Care Initiatives?
