<p>PLEASE READ POSTING IN ITS ENTIRETY</p> <p>It is the goal of the College Student Internship Program to provide a valuable learning experience to a junior or senior studying criminal justice or other law enforcement-related field. Intern will shadow, observe, participate, and take full advantage of all activities and opportunities provided. The Delaware County Sheriff's Office staff will mentor, give feedback, and provide meaningful tasks and assignments to the intern.</p> <p>Must have a valid Ohio driver's license and a clean criminal record. Work consists of complex, varied, non-standardized tasks requiring application of numerous laws, rules, regulations, and procedures. </p> <ul> <li>Detective Bureau assistance; </li><li>Patrol ride-along; assist with taking incident reports, etc. Corrections Officer shadowing; jail  </li><li>programming assistance Court Services Division shadowing (transport, courts, etc.) Dispatch -  </li><li>shadow and observation </li><li>School Resource Officers/Explorers programming assistance </li><li>Other duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>Prior to completing the application, verify that you can comply with these 5 requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Must be 18 years of age or older and of good character. </li><li>Must be a Delaware County resident and eligible to work in the United States. </li><li>Must currently be enrolled as a junior or senior pursuing a Bachelor's degree or higher at an accredited college or university, with a minimum 2.5 GPA; and must be pursuing a degree in criminal justice or a law enforcement related field. </li><li>Must submit a copy of current GPA and proof of enrollment; a letter of recommendation from a law enforcement or related professor; and, a personal letter of reference. </li><li>Must not have any felony arrests or convictions, no operating a motor vehicle under the influence or convictions of misdemeanor crimes within the last four (4) years. </li></ul> <p> </p> <p>As a reminder, in addition to completing the online application, you must also submit (either as an attachment to your application or via email to: aandolsek@co.delaware.oh.us):</p> <ul> <li>Letter of reference from someone you are not related to </li><li>Letter of recommendation from a college professor </li><li>Proof of college/university enrollment and current GPA </li></ul> <p> </p> <p>Estimated Time FrameSteps in Process to be CompletedDecember 3  - January 1Applications Submitted</p> <p>January - February Staff Review of Applications</p> <p>Interviews</p> <p>Late February/MarchBackground Check on Top 2 Finalists</p> <p>March/AprilSelection of Intern</p> <p>Late May/Early JuneIntern Begins 10 Week program(start date is flexible)</p>
