The maintenance conducted is done so campus wide, to include the classrooms for the 10,000 students attending Rhode Island College (RIC), laboratories, offices, all six residence halls for over 1,000 residence, athletic facilities for the 19 varsity sports and the dining hall. The maintenance that the Senior Maintenance Technician will conduct to machinery, buildings and equipment is both preventive and emergent in nature. In addition to doing independent maintenance, the Senior Maintenance Technician will be expected to work with and assist other members of the maintenance team. This includes the licensed Electricians, Plumbers, Carpenters and other unlicensed Senior Maintenance Technicians.</p> <p>Reports To Associate Director of Facilities & Operations, Maintenance & Repairs Illustrative Examples of Work Performed</p> <p>To perform complex duties related to the maintenance of: plumbing fixtures, steam lines, steam heating and cooking equipment.</p> <p>To repair hospital sterilizers.</p> <p>To cut, thread and install pipe for steam and water lines.</p> <p>To repair wall plugs and lighting equipment; to repair and recondition fans.</p> <p>To make repairs and adjustments to laundry washing, drying and pressing machinery; to supervise helpers in the oiling and greasing of this equipment.</p> <p>To operate lathes, millers, drills and other machine shop equipment.</p> <p>To paint buildings, walls or other surfaces.</p> <p>To perform masonry work in connection with buildings, foundations, walks, and walls.</p> <p>To repair doors, doorframes and furniture; to fabricate and install temporary partitions; to operate and maintain wood lathes, sanders, joiners, power saws, planers and related power and hand tools.</p> <p>To make repairs to roofs and install flashing and spouts.</p> <p>To make minor repairs on refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.</p> <p>To weld and braze metals by use of arc and acetylene welders.</p> <p>To do related work as required.</p> <p>Education</p> <p>Such as may have been gained through: completion of ten school grades; and</p> <p>Experience</p> <p>Such as may have been gained through: employment in building and plant maintenance work which has involved at least two of the building, electrical or mechanical trades.</p> <p>Or Combination of Education and Experience</p> <p>Or, any combination of education and experience that shall be substantially equivalent to the above education and experience.</p> <p>Or Combination of Education and Experience Additional Required Qualifications Knowledges Skills and Capacities</p> <p>A working knowledge of the standard practices, materials, tools and processes involved in trades related to general building maintenance; a working knowledge of the operation of mechanical equipment; a working knowledge of the use of common tools and materials; the ability to make varied repairs without supervision; the ability to supervise a small group of helpers; the ability to work from pencil sketches and diagrams; and related capacities and abilities.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>NA</p> <p>Number of Employees Supervised 0</p>
