<p>Position: Teacher - Preschool Itinerant Intervention Specialist at Alliance Preschool</p> <p>Employment Status: Part Time ~ This position does NOT include Health Benefits</p> <p>Reports to: Building Principal</p> <p>Description:</p> <p>An Itinerant Preschool Teacher is an Early Childhood Intervention Specialist who provides services to 3, 4, and 5-year-old children who qualify for services on an Individualized Education Program (IEP). Students who qualify may have goals in any of these areas: Academic Achievement, Fine motor, Gross Motor, Communication, Social-emotional behavior, Adaptive behavior, and Cognitive skills. The Itinerant Teacher will work with the child and parents or teachers for a minimum of one hour per week to monitor the child's progress on IEP goals and to help the parents or teachers continue activities throughout the week. These strategies and activities can then be used in the child's daily environment.</p> <p>Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students and by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc. To teach according to the provided courses of study.</p> <p>Will be responsible for working with outside early childhood community agencies. Will be providing educational services to students at Alliance Early Learning School.</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited four-year college or university </li><li>Masters Degree in related area Preferred. </li><li>Appropriate State of Ohio certifications/license (early childhood intervention, P-3). </li><li>Prior teaching experience is preferable. </li><li>Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board of </li></ul> <p>Education may find appropriate.</p> <p>Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles. </li><li>Skills that foster and facilitate learning and classroom management. </li><li>Educational pedagogy. </li><li>Student/teacher relationship. </li><li>Professionalism. </li><li>Knowledge of curriculum and concepts. </li><li>Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans. </li><li>Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students. </li><li>Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed. </li><li>Ability to organize and coordinate work. </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents. </li><li>Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth. </li><li>Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work. </li></ul> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Ensure safety of students. </li><li>Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter and present clear, complete and accurate explanations utilizing a variety of instructional techniques and media suitable to the level of learners. </li><li>Maintain respect at all times for confidential information. </li><li>Attend meetings, in-services and/or training programs as required per negotiated agreement and Superintendent or designee. </li><li>Refer students suspected of learning difficulties to the intervention assistance team </li><li>Observe ethics of the teaching profession. </li><li>Follow/support/carry out the district and building mission statement. </li><li>Refer attendance, health, and psychological/emotional problems to the Principal and/or Guidance Counselor. </li><li>Develop and administer school curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives. </li><li>Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning. </li><li>Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and translate lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction. </li><li>Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning, and modifies instructional methods at individual student's needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed. </li><li>Instruct students in the principles of responsible citizenship and other subject matters specified in applicable laws, as well as administrative regulations and procedures of the school system. </li><li>Continue to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research. </li><li>Organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws. </li><li>Encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensure effective communication with students and parents. </li><li>Ensure that student conduct conforms to the school's standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom. </li><li>Coordinate with other professional staff members, especially within grade level, to evaluate and assess curriculum, and participates in faculty meetings and committees. </li><li>Select and requisitions appropriate books, instructional aids and other supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records. </li><li>Supervise students in activities that take place out of the classroom during the school day, including activities involving school transportation. </li><li>Administer standardized tests in accordance with District testing programs. </li><li>Provides support to families and/or guardians. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment Characteristics/Conditions</p> <p>The work environment characteristics described here are not listed in order of importance, and are representative of those an employee encounters while completing the duties and responsibilities of this job.
