<p>Payroll and Accounting Specialist - Parsippany, New Jersey</p> <p>Salary: $65,000 - $75,000</p> <p>Overview:</p> <p>Beltone: MLM Hearing-Audiology Resources is a well-established leader in hearing healthcare, operating since 1976. With over 155 clinics across the U.S., we are committed to providing high-quality patient care and are seeking a dedicated professional to manage our clinic in Corvallis, Oregon.</p> <p>Highlights:</p> <ul> <li>The Payroll & Accounting Specialist is responsible for the full-cycle preparation, processing, reconciliation and compliance of complex, multi-entity and multi-state payroll operations. This position requires a strong working knowledge of payroll tax regulations, wage and hour compliance, garnishment administration and payroll system management, along with a solid understanding of accounting principles and general ledger integrations. </li></ul> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Own and process bi-weekly multi-state, multi-entity payroll, including commissions, bonuses, variable compensation and independent contractors. </li><li>Ensure compliance with federal, state and local wage and hours laws, payroll tax regulations, garnishments and benefit deductions. </li><li>Manage payroll tax registrations, filings and payments across all jurisdictions. </li><li>Oversee year-end processing, including W2 and 1099 preparation and distribution. </li><li>Audit and validate time and attendance records across all locations and pay groups. </li><li>Review and resolve timekeeping exceptions, PTO balances, and pay discrepancies in coordination with managers and HR. </li><li>Provide training and guidance to managers and employees on proper timekeeping procedures, reporting and system use. </li><li>Ensure accurate and timely processing of all authorized payroll-related updates within the HRIS, including employee payroll data, tax account details, and related records. </li><li>Serve as the primary point of contact for employee payroll inquiries and resolve issues professionally and confidently. </li><li>Maintain payroll data accuracy within HRIS and payroll systems. </li><li>Prepare and review payroll entries and ensure accurate integration with the general ledger. </li><li>Reconcile payroll-related balance sheet accounts, including accrued wages, taxes payable and benefit liabilities. </li><li>Support month-end and year-end close processes related to payroll. </li><li>Maintain payroll system integrity and internal controls. </li><li>Support HRIS system/module implementations, testing and employee training. </li><li>Develop and maintain payroll process documentation and SOPs. </li><li>Generate recurring and ad hoc payroll and compensation reports for leadership. </li></ul> <p>Required Skills and Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Minimum 5+ years of full-cycle payroll processing experience, including multi-state payroll in a multi-entity environment. </li><li>Demonstrated experience independently managing payroll for 100+ employees. </li><li>Strong working knowledge of payroll tax registrations, filling and compliance requirements. </li><li>Experience reconciling payroll to the general ledger and support month-end close. </li><li>Hands-on experience with payroll and timekeeping systems (UKG or comparable HRIS/payroll platform). </li><li>Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, data validation, reconciliation analysis) </li></ul> <p>Core Competencies:</p> <p>Confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive information. Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines. Analytical thinker with effective problem-solving and follow-through skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and support others.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications & Skills:</p> <p>CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification strongly preferred. Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field. Experience in a multi-location or retail healthcare environment.
