<p>Position:</p> <p>Head Coach - Middle School</p> <p>Supervisor:</p> <p>School Athletic Director and HS Head Coach</p> <p>Work Site:</p> <p>Assigned School/program</p> <p>Summary:</p> <p>The Coach must demonstrate leadership in player and staff development, integrity, sportsmanship and character development. Qualified candidates should possess strong communication and organizational skills. They must demonstrate exceptional knowledge of the skills and strategies of their sport as it pertains to the policies of New Mexico Activities Association (NMAA). Coach will supervise assistant coaches in conjunction with the school athletic director.</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge in implementing a written team rules which includes a philosophy statement and discusses acceptable player behavior, practice procedures, substance abuse policies and other guidelines that relate to program management. Conduct a pre-season meeting with parents and players to share these policies and procedures. </li><li>Have a thorough knowledge of all District and the NMAA Policies and be responsible for their implementation. </li><li>Understand and follow the proper administrative line of command and refer all requests or grievances through proper channels. </li><li>Continue professional growth by attending team practices and meeting with the high school head coach. </li><li>Conduct oneself as a positive role model. </li><li>Assist the high school head coach in implementing all team rules (to vertically align with high school program). </li><li>Turn in team rosters as directed to the school athletic director. </li><li>Report all rule violations or suspected violations to the school athletic director. </li><li>Consult with the school athletic director, or his/her designee, in matters of purchasing equipment, scheduling, and coaching assignments. </li><li>Work to develop a positive athlete-teacher relationship. </li><li>Coaches must ensure that all athletes participating in their sport are academically eligible. This includes checking grades before the start of the season and during the season as well. Every student athlete must remain eligible according to NMAA policies. </li><li>Implement a sport specific safety plan. This includes a hazards free practice environment. If something needs to be fixed, place a district work order to fix that problem immediately and report it to your school athletic director. </li><li>Be responsible for the collection of equipment and have athletic fines resolved by the end of the season. </li><li>Prepare travel requests for trips 10 days in advance; rosters and itineraries at least prior to the 24 hours of departure. </li><li>Remain at practice or contest until all athletes have left the athletic area. </li><li>Inspect the locker room with the visiting coach before and after the contest. </li><li>The Head Coach must ride the team bus to and from practices or contests. </li><li>Require appropriate behavior on road trips by supervising students at the opponent's school. </li><li>Promote and encourage fair play, good sportsmanship, and ethical standards of conduct both on and off the field. </li><li>Forewarn all participants that involvement in physical confrontation could result in removal from the game and /or suspension from subsequent games. </li><li>Utilize and monitor RankOneSport system. </li><li>Maintain a yearly inventory of all new and used equipment. </li><li>Comply with all Board of Education policies, administrative regulations, Public Education Department guidelines and local/state/federal laws and the NMAA. </li><li>Perform additional job responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor. </li><li>Support district and school efforts to keep CCSD safe and secure </li><li>Complete and comply with all required trainings annually </li><li>Adhere to NM Code of Ethical Responsibility of the Education Profession (NMAC 6.60.9.8) </li><li>Other duties as assigned, reasonably related to the scope of the position </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>BA degree </li><li>Valid New Mexico Teaching License </li><li>Coaching Certification </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of Dine language, culture, and history preferred </li><li>Good communication skills and customer service skill </li><li>Previous high school coaching experience preferred </li><li>Knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport </li><li>Current CPR and first aid certification </li></ul> <p>Physical/Job Requirements:</p> <p>Standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying up to 50 pounds, climbing, bending, reaching, kneeling, driving a vehicle, traveling long distances, writing, typing, word processing, reading, researching information, and effective communication skills.</p> <p>Safety and Health:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of universal hygiene precautions </li><li>Completed and cleared background check </li><li>Pass drug test if required for position </li><li>Knowledge and compliance with district and school Safety Plans </li></ul> <p>Equipment/Material Handled:</p> <ul> <li>Multimedia equipment, including current technology </li><li>Equipment/materials relevant to the job responsibilities </li><li>Valid driver license and insurable by district if necessary </li></ul> <p>Work Environment:</p> <ul> <li>Must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature and air quality </li><li>Work interruptions </li><li>Flexibility </li><li>Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignment without direct supervision </li><li>Must complete applications and assignments within the timeframes allowed </li><li>Extended work hours, on occasion </li></ul> <p>Term of Employment:</p> <ul> <li>This is an at-will supplemental position </li></ul>
