<p>The Whitman Career Center is seeking an Undergraduate Career Advisor to provide career education, advising, and professional development programming for undergraduate business students, with a primary focus on finance and real estate majors. This position will report to the Associate Director of Finance Career Advising and Employer Relations.</p> <p>The Undergraduate Career Advisor will deliver one-on-one career coaching, facilitate workshops, and manage key career development initiatives including industry-specific events, networking programs, and support employer site visits. The advisor will also provide feedback on strategic and operational components of the career center, requiring leadership, maturity, and a collaborative spirit.</p> <p>The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with strong communication and relationship-building skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and within a team. Flexibility, sound judgment, and a proactive approach to supporting both students and employer partners are essential to meet established goals.</p> <p>Education and Experience</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree. </li><li>Three plus (3+) years of previous career coaching, recruiting, placement and/or project management experience preferred. </li><li>Experience with the unique needs of business students helpful. </li></ul> <p>Skills and Knowledge</p> <ul> <li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills. </li><li>Experience in career services advising across diverse populations is highly desirable. </li><li>Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple demands and priorities. </li><li>Strong time management, organizational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines. </li><li>High level of discretion in handling confidential information. </li><li>Demonstrated accountability, follow-through, and relationship management skills both internally and externally. </li><li>Background in business fields or a strong willingness to learn deeply about Whitman's majors and related industries. </li><li>Intermediate technology proficiency, including Excel, database management, and online platforms. </li><li>Willingness and availability to work occasional evenings and weekends for events or employer visits. </li><li>Ability to travel for student events, employer engagement, and professional conferences. </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>Coaching, Advising, Teaching, and Training with Finance Specialization:</p> <ul> <li>Provide career counseling, advising, and coaching to global, diverse, and discerning full-time undergraduate business student population (e.g., career research, resume and cover letter writing, internship and job search strategy, interview preparation, and networking tips), with specialization in finance and real estate. </li><li>Develop and implement unique career education programming for Whitman undergraduate student population with career center team while utilizing career development theories and modern methodologies. </li><li>Lead one-on-one and group sessions with students to facilitate skill development and exploration of opportunities; have or gain knowledge of related industries and career paths as well as skills needed for undergraduate business students. </li><li>Develop and deliver information with a teaching and learning focus in person, virtually, and through online resources based on best practices while addressing emerging student needs. </li><li>Evaluate gaps in student engagement and skillsets; create and execute plans to establish connections with student population and equip students with necessary competencies. </li></ul> <p>Outcomes and Accountability:</p> <ul> <li>Track, audit, and analyze internship and post-graduation placement outcomes with high attention to detail and accountability according to national reporting standards. </li><li>Provide thoughtful, thorough, and timely responses and specialize in strategic, proactive outreach to all connected parties. </li><li>Track, audit, and communicate critical information about the Whitman undergraduate internship degree requirement to both internal and external stakeholders. </li></ul> <p>Relationship Development and Employer Relations Support:</p> <ul> <li>Partner with employer relations staff, along with additional staff, faculty, alumni, and students, to understand strategic recruiting and hiring needs in support of full-time employment and internship placement of full-time Whitman undergraduate students; convey this information appropriately to students and identify and recommend appropriate candidates for opportunities. </li><li>Communicate student skills and interests to corporate development and employer relations staff to impact strategy in creating opportunities for students. </li><li>Collaborate with faculty, alumni, students, and employers to foster relationships while building learning and recruiting opportunities for Whitman students. </li></ul> <p>Innovation and Strategy:</p> <ul> <li>Think creatively and proactively about professional development and career search experience for students. </li><li>Pilot innovative approaches for building partnerships and engaging with students and stakeholders with a mindset for understanding student needs and fields related to business industries. </li><li>Demonstrate excellent analytical skills while evaluating and impacting program needs. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Tools/Equipment </li><li>Application Instructions </li></ul> <p>In addition to completing an online application, please attach a resume and cover letter.</p>
