Gigamon has served more than 4,000 customers worldwide, including over 80 percent of Fortune 100 enterprises, 9 of the 10 largest mobile network providers, and hundreds of governments and educational organizations.</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>The Component Engineer will play a pivotal role within the Supply Chain team, focusing on sourcing optimization of design initiatives for Gigamon Products including third-party products and electronics component suppliers. In strong partnership with manufacturing engineering, supply chain, development engineering and suppliers you will be responsible for selecting, program management of the qualification process and integration with product manufacturing. The Component Engineer will lead the effort for technical research and selection of alternative components and suppliers. This role is crucial in assessing the impact of component obsolescence and working with suppliers and internal stakeholders to develop retrofit solutions to sustain production. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of printed circuit boards, power, integrated circuits, transceivers and surface-mount devices and all aspects of the manufacturing build process. Must be able to pull together data and present it as information to support recommended components.</p> <p>Responsibilities and Duties</p> <ul> <li>Partner with supply chain, engineering and suppliers to select and approve alternative and new suppliers for substitute components as needed, ensuring they meet the company's technical and quality standards. </li><li>Coordinate with the manufacturing engineering team, design team and suppliers to evaluate and approve alternative components for obsolete parts ensuring compatibility and performance. </li><li>Submit component change requests ensuring updates to product documentation, specifications, and bills of materials in Arena system. </li><li>Serve as a liaison between engineering and manufacturing teams, ensuring compliance with component specifications and alignment with corporate revenue goals. </li><li>Manage design inputs for component and/or sub-component changes into the qualification process for existing Products. </li><li>Participate in risk management activities, including risk assessments and supply chain reviews for existing products. </li><li>Evaluate EOL components in product BOMs, review PCNs and recommend suitable alternatives. </li><li>Support quality engineering in Investigating non-conformances related to component or 3rd party sub-component failures, including supplier failure analysis, root cause analysis and supplier corrective actions. </li><li>Support operations engineering and suppliers for regulatory approvals, create Declaration of Conformity documents and respond to regulatory inquiries for existing product changes. </li><li>Collaborate with supply chain teams on continuous cost-reduction initiatives throughout the product lifecycle. </li></ul> <p>Required Skills and Experience</p> <ul> <li>Proficiency in interpreting electrical component specifications, technical drawings, and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). </li><li>Strong analytical, problem-solving and data analysis skills. </li><li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. </li><li>7+ years of demonstrated project management experience, ability to manage multiple priorities, and work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. </li><li>10+ years of comprehensive experience in component engineering, PCBA development and manufacturing processes including SMT tests, thermal profiling, and box build process flows. </li><li>Experience with product data management tools like Arena and knowledge of BOM structure and the PCN/ECN process. </li><li>Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts. Needs to be experienced in presenting and leading technical discussions with stakeholders. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and engage effectively at all levels of the organization. </li></ul> <p>Education</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in engineering (preferably in Electronics/Electrical Engineering). </li></ul> <p>The base salary compensation range targeted for this role, based out of Gigamon's Santa Clara, CA, Headquarters office, is [$136,000 - $170,000], with an opportunity to earn an annual bonus or commission (subject to the plan's terms and conditions). This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the Company's compensation practices.</p>
