<p>Senior Mechanical Engineering Group Leader</p> <p>Position Type: Direct Hire</p> <p>Position Location: Bedford, MA</p> <p>Position Salary: $170,000 - $185,000 (Depending on Experience) + Bonus</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Lead and grow a team of mechanical engineers working on large, complex electromechanical systems </li><li>Drive the design and development of motion systems, thermal management solutions, and precision fluidics </li><li>Oversee CAD design and modeling, tolerance stack-up analysis, and DfX implementation </li><li>Ensure design quality, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness throughout the product lifecycle </li><li>Collaborate with electrical, systems, and software engineering teams to deliver integrated solutions </li><li>Mentor and coach junior engineers, shaping their technical growth and professional development </li><li>Organize team workflows, set clear goals, and hold team members accountable for key deliverables </li><li>Ensure compliance with quality systems and regulatory standards, particularly in the medical device space </li><li>Support project planning, risk analysis, budgeting, and stakeholder communication </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent); Higher education a plus </li><li>10+ years of product development experience </li><li>Experience with parametric CAD modeling tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo), and proficiency in other design-related software </li><li>In-depth knowledge of GD&T and conducting tolerance stack-up analyses for complex assemblies </li><li>Direct experience designing and developing large electromechanical systems, including motion systems and mechanisms, thermal management (heating/cooling), and precision fluidics </li><li>Solid understanding of various manufacturing processes including machining, sheet metal, injection molding, and casting </li><li>Proven ability to mentor and coach junior engineers, particularly in DfX (Design for Excellence) principles such as reliability, cost efficiency, manufacturability, and ease of assembly </li><li>Familiarity with quality systems and regulations applicable to medical devices </li><li>Exceptional cross-functional communication and collaboration skills </li><li>Strong people management skills including driving a design team towards success as well as career development </li><li>Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate a design team </li><li>A clear, systems-level understanding of the mechanical engineering function within the broader product development lifecycle </li><li>Effectively planning and organizing tasks with ability to drive direct reports for achieving objectives </li><li>New product development experience specific to IVD medical devices is preferred </li><li>Ability to use networking skills to connect direct reports with technical leaders and subject matter experts to improve technical acumen </li><li>Ability to influence and align cross-functional teams around shared goals and foster transparent communication </li><li>Comfortable leading through all phases of the product development lifecycle-from product definition, conceptualization, design, implementation, verification and validation, and design transfer </li><li>Project management experience including risk assessment, budget oversight, and executive-level reporting </li></ul> <p>Benefits:</p> <ul> <li>Full Benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision) </li><li>401K + Matching </li><li>Bonus </li><li>PTO </li></ul> <p>After you have applied, download our Staffmark Group WorkNOW App to receive real-time job offers and apply for additional opportunities.
