If you unsubscribe from emails, you will not receive notices to schedule interviews and testing.</p> <ul> <li>Conduct routine maintenance and ensure proper operation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to manufacturer recommendations i.e. valves, motors, belts, bearings, filters, and lubrication etc. </li><li>Conduct routine inspection, troubleshoot, diagnose issues; and perform necessary repairs or replacements of system components. </li><li>Installing ductwork and connecting control systems. </li><li>Reading and interpreting blueprints, specifications, and wiring diagrams. </li><li>Assist outside mechanical contractors with contract responsibilities. </li><li>Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and building codes. </li><li>Maintain MIOSHA logs. </li><li>Store hazardous materials according to department policies and procedures. </li><li>Using hand and power tools for installations and repairs. </li><li>Respond to routine and emergency calls for repair and service throughout the facility during occupied and unoccupied hours. </li><li>Provide technical direction and training to other staff members. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li><li>Must have High School Diploma or equivalent. </li><li>Journeyman HVAC Technician with a minimum of 5 years of commercial HVAC and heating and cooling systems is preferred. </li><li>Self-motivated with the ability to function independently and effectively. </li><li>Demonstrated dependability, reliability and flexibility. </li><li>Positive interpersonal skills along with a proactive, public service attitude. </li><li>Link for driving standards: City of Southfield </li><li>Expresses thoughts in a clear and effective manner, through verbal and written communication skills. </li><li>Exhibits effective listening skills and builds positive relationships with all team members, vendors, and guests. </li></ul> <p>The selection process will include a review of the applicant's experience for posted requirements, a criminal history check, and an oral board interview. Each step of the process must be passed before the applicant will be moved to the next step. Applicants will be invited to further participate in the selection process based on the nature and extent of their related experience.</p>
