We're looking for a compassionate and dedicated Prevention Caseworker to join our Child Welfare Services team. In this role, you'll work proactively with families to prevent child abuse and neglect, aiming to keep children safely in their homes whenever possible. You'll connect families with resources such as parenting programs, mental health services, substance use treatment, housing assistance, and more.</p> <p>As a Prevention Caseworker, you will build trusting relationships with families, offering both guidance and support during challenging times. Your work will focus on strengthening family functioning, reducing risk factors, and promoting child safety and well-being. You'll collaborate closely with schools, healthcare providers, and community organizations, ensuring a coordinated approach to services. Examples of duties are not intended to be all-inclusive or restrictive.)</p> <ul> <li> <p>Provides intake, assessment and evaluation for child abuse and neglect, juvenile delinquency, and youth in conflict cases.</p> </li><li> <p>Investigates allegations of abuse and neglect; assesses level of risk and safety.</p> </li><li> <p>Develops and implements strategies to resolve identified issues; plans may include but not limited to out-of-home placement or hospitalization.</p> </li><li> <p>Makes home visits and coordinates services needed by the client, such as: life skills, daycare, financial assistance, healthcare (physical and mental), and substance abuse treatment.</p> </li><li> <p>Writes reports in compliance with State and Federal guidelines and Division policy/procedures for documentation of treatments plans, recommendations, contracts, and assessments.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs all case management duties including data entry.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborates, contracts and partners with other departments, community agencies, non-profit organizations, and vendors to serve client needs.</p> </li><li> <p>May conduct joint investigations with law enforcement.</p> </li><li> <p>Monitors compliance and progress with treatment plans.</p> </li><li> <p>Testifies and makes recommendations in court proceedings.</p> </li><li> <p>Requires on-call duty after hours and on holidays/weekends.</p> </li></ul> <p>Education</p> <ul> <li> <p>Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required in social work or human behavioral sciences. </p> </li><li> <p>Master's degree in one of the human behavioral science fields preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Current Colorado Child Welfare Social Caseworker certification preferred.</p> </li></ul> <p>Experience</p> <ul> <li> <p>2 years experience required in casework in a public or private social services agency.</p> </li><li> <p>Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred (2.5% multilingual pay will be included)</p> </li></ul> <p>OR</p> <p>Years of related experience may be substituted for required education, however education cannot be substituted for the necessary work experience. Candidates must meet the minimum required years of work experience</p> <p>NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:</p> <p>Must be at least 21 years of age. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving record for continued employment. New hires must, as a condition of employment, pass the following pre-offer and post-offer/hire processes: in-person or virtual interviews, reference checks, background checks including local police check, and child abuse, adult abuse, and sex-offender registries, fingerprint checks through CBI/FBI, and a DMV check. Child abuse and adult abuse checks are continued on an annual basis.</p> <ul> <li> <p>Within six months of employment complete Fundamentals of Colorado Child Welfare Casework Practice training.</p> </li><li> <p>For continued employment, must pass pre-requisite requirements for Social Caseworker Certification and maintain annual certification per CCR 7.603.1 requirements.</p> </li><li> <p>If assigned to child welfare, within six months of assignment appointment. Within six months of employment complete Fundamentals of Colorado Child Welfare Casework Practice training.</p> </li></ul> <p>(The work environment characteristics and physical demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities and neuro-differences to perform the essential functions.) </p> <ul> <li> <p>Work is generally scheduled Monday through Friday with some evening, weekend and holiday hours as required.</p> </li><li> <p>Work involves on-call duty after hours and on holidays/weekends and must be available to respond within one hour of notification.</p> </li><li> <p>Frequently required to sit, talk or hear, walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. </p> </li><li> <p>Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. </p> </li><li> <p>Physical demands are described as sedentary (exert up to 30 lbs. of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body). </p> </li><li> <p>Travel by automobile is required to meet with clients, attend professional meetings, or to coordinate the division's activities with other City departments and outside agencies. </p> </li><li> <p>Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.</p> </li></ul>
