<p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Candidate must hold a Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) license in Visual Arts (PreK - 8).</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of the organizational structure and elements of a successful art program, in alignment with the MA Visual Arts Frameworks.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills</p> </li><li> <p>Passion for teaching and encouraging young artists.</p> </li><li> <p>Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate.</p> </li></ol> <p>REPORTS TO: Senior Director of Curriculum/City-Wide Art Department Chair.</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Plan and deliver art lessons that introduce students to different techniques, styles, and media.</p> </li><li> <p>Encourage creativity, self-expression, and critical thinking through art projects.</p> </li><li> <p>Implement and continually examine a curriculum that is culturally inclusive within a safe and supportive learning environment where ALL students feel valued.</p> </li><li> <p>Organize and display student artwork throughout the school.</p> </li><li> <p>Manage classroom behavior and maintain a safe, respectful learning environment.</p> </li><li> <p>Assess and document student progress and provide feedback.</p> </li><li> <p>Employ a variety of age and developmentally appropriate instructional methods and materials designed to meet and engage the needs of all learners.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with other teachers and staff on school-wide and district-wide projects and events.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain art supplies and materials and order replacements as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Develop positive and respectful relationships with students and have the ability to spark a passion for learning and student growth.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in professional growth opportunities.</p> </li><li> <p>Attend and participate in department and curriculum development meetings.</p> </li></ol>
