In addition to the requirements listed below, regular attendance is an essential function of this position.</p> <ul> <li>Ensures that all actions are in concert with the Board policies as well as the mission statement, beliefs, objectives, and parameters found in the Board's strategic plan. </li><li>Carries out such additional duties as required or as conditions necessitate. </li><li>Participates in job training and professional growth opportunities in order to enhance ability to perform the essential functions of the job. </li><li>The primary responsibility of the building principal is to assume a leadership role in the improvement of instruction, initiatives for improving student achievement, curriculum delivery, student assessment and staff development. </li><li>Responsible for following the student code of conduct and Illinois School Code in executing student discipline in the building. </li><li>Assumes major responsibilities for effectively implementing curriculum policies formulated by the Board and the administrative regulations established by the Superintendent. </li><li>Completes all District, State and Federal reports in accordance with procedures and timelines established by the District. </li><li>Facilitates participation with in-service programs for certified and non-certified staff members to enhance their competencies. </li><li>Communicates the school's goals, accomplishments, practices, and policies to parents, students and the community. </li><li>Facilitates the school improvement planning process to enhance all curricular and co-curricular programs. </li><li>Evaluates all staff members in accordance with Illinois School Code, District procedures and timelines. </li><li>Provides supervisory assistance in such areas as instructional delivery, curriculum delivery, special education and support services to enhance student achievement. </li><li>Interprets the work of the school to the community by developing lines of communication with parents and professional staff regarding the school's goals, accomplishments, practices, policies, and by encouraging community involvement in the plans and programs of the school. </li><li>Prepares and administers the school budgets. </li><li>Assumes the responsibility for the recommending of personnel for the building, in cooperation with the Department of Human Resources. </li><li>Recommends removal of staff whose work remains unsatisfactory after remediation efforts have been implemented. </li><li>Secures healthy, safe, and efficient operation and maintenance of the school campus. </li><li>Attend Monthly Principal Meetings as a potential facilitator on SOAR programming. </li><li>Maintain a documented monitoring system of the success rates of students in transition support. </li><li>Attend initial student referral meetings with zone school principals. </li><li>Conduct site visits to zone schools to engage in student observations and staff interviews. </li><li>Maintain a feedback loop with the zone school on the student's progress while at the SOAR Academy. </li><li>Track the total number of SOAR referrals vs. the number of students attending. </li><li>Communicate with zone schools after student has fully transitioned back at their zone school to monitor the student success rates. </li><li>Prepare quarterly reports on SOAR programming to the Board of Education. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS: Master's Degree and proper certification in accordance with the School Code of the State of Illinois.</p> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Job requires substantial knowledge and skills relating to the duties and responsibilities identified above; also the ability to work in, and manage, a multi-racial organization with a diverse client population.
