<p>Echo Technician A Brief Overview Performs noninvasive diagnostic echocardiogram procedures and studies as directed and according to established standards and procedures. Provides on-call and callback coverage as required. What you will do Reviews patient#s medical record prior to each testing to obtain and record identifying information required for the echocardiogram and patient records. Demonstrates knowledge and skills and maintains competencies required to provide care appropriate to age of the patients served within department. Informs and explains echocardiogram assessment purposes and procedures to the patient prior to commencement of testing in a caring, compassionate, and sensitive manner. Administers echocardiogram as ordered by physician, consistent with patient care policies and procedures, demonstrated competencies, and with consideration given to risk management, infection control practices, patient safety practices and departmental activities. <em>Operates technical equipment. </em>Performs echocardiogram (ultrasound of heart), diagnostic duties and patient care functions as qualified by education, skill, competency, and experience. Reports abnormal reactions to events. <em>Ensures accurate documentation in performing and processing all procedures including proper ordering, charging, and computer entry. </em>Updates charts, exams and patient#s records. Utilizes patient computer systems to enter and retrieve data maintaining confidentially at all times. * Recognizes and corrects technical errors to ensure a clear and accurate recording. Confers and works collaboratively with patient/family/hospital staff in a customer responsive and courteous manner, in compliance with MEDCARE standards and promoting patient/customer satisfaction to achieve positive patient outcomes. Maintains confidentiality in matters relating to patient/family, department and hospital information. Adheres to established department and organization policies (i.e. HIPAA, Confidentiality, and Compliance Policies). Responds appropriately to emergency situations and notifies appropriate personnel. Maintains required department records, reports and files. Operates the Radiology Information System to enter required test data and patient information, using all appropriate modules with accuracy. Participates in quality/performance improvement. Collects quality data for monitoring performance improvement and to produce the best value service. Completes required continuous training and education, including department specific requirements. Responds to problems/opportunities to improve work environment and participates in unit based performance improvement activities which includes committees, monitoring and follow-up. Assists in care and maintenance of equipment and supplies. Reports malfunction of equipment to supervisor. Maintains a clean and orderly work area. Maintains a clean, orderly, safe environment for patients and personnel. Adheres to established policies, compliance/quality improvement, and patient safety, environment and infection control standards. Provides on-call and call back coverage as required.
