<p>The College of Law at West Virginia University invites applications for part-time adjunct faculty positions to teach courses in various areas of law. Applicants should have demonstrated expertise and experience in the subjects they wish to teach and be committed to providing a rigorous and quality educational experiences to our students.</p> <p>Essential duties include:</p> <ul> <li>Developing a syllabus that reflects assessment of student performance against course learning outcomes and that complies with University and College of Law policies; </li><li>Providing students with appropriately rigorous materials and expertise in the assigned subjects; </li><li>Contributing to and maintaining a positive and collaborative learning environment; </li><li>Ensuring that students receive prompt and productive feedback concerning their work; </li><li>Being available and responsive to students; </li><li>Being responsive to and working with law school administration on all aspects of course management; </li><li>Being aware of and following academic policies and procedures related to instruction and recordkeeping; </li><li>Using appropriate technology to facilitate communication, course management, assignment and examination administration, and reporting of grades; </li><li>Attending adjunct faculty training and other meetings during the semester. </li></ul> <p>These positions require a J.D. degree and a minimum of three years of professional legal experience.</p> <p>Additionally, the following qualifications are strongly preferred:</p> <ul> <li>A demonstrated history of successful teaching at the graduate or undergraduate level. </li><li>A record of engagement with the College of Law. </li><li>A judicial clerkship or similar experience. </li><li>Supervisory experience in a legal practice setting. </li></ul> <p>Applications will be accepted throughout the year and will be considered as openings arise. Salary is established on a per-credit basis. Appointments will be for a specified term and renewal of the position will be based on course need. These positions are not benefits eligible.
