<p>This is a temporary position thru 4/27/2026</p> <p>Position Summary:</p> <p>The Part-Time Morning Long-Term Substitute Reading/Writing 3 Teacher is responsible for providing high-quality literacy instruction to adult learners in an Adult Basic Education (ABE) program. The teacher supports students in developing reading and writing skills necessary to achieve academic, career, and personal goals, including preparation for a high school equivalency credential.</p> <p>This role serves a diverse population of adult learners, including multilingual students with varying educational backgrounds. The teacher promotes an inclusive, learner-centered classroom environment and implements evidence-based instructional practices aligned with ABE curriculum guidelines and CCRSAE standards.</p> <p>The teacher also supports program operations through assessment, documentation, and collaboration with colleagues and program leadership</p> <p>Essential Functions & Responsibilities</p> <p>The responsibilities listed below reflect the primary duties of the position; the omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the role. Additional responsibilities that are similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position may be assigned as needed to meet program, legal, or operational needs.</p> <ul> <li>Plan and deliver engaging, learner-centered reading and writing instruction aligned with ABE curriculum guidelines and CCRSAE standards. </li><li>Provide explicit instruction in reading and writing strategies, including literacy skills across content areas. </li><li>Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic, linguistic, and cultural needs of adult learners. </li><li>Assess student learning regularly and use data to inform instruction and support student progress. </li><li>Maintain accurate attendance records and document student progress in accordance with program and DESE requirements. </li><li>Administer required assessments and complete related reporting tasks. </li><li>Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and persistence. </li><li>Collaborate with colleagues, counselors, and program administrators to support student success and program goals. </li><li>Attend and actively participate in department meetings, professional development, and in-service trainings. </li><li>Integrate technology effectively into instruction to enhance learning outcomes. </li><li>Prepare and submit lesson plans in accordance with department expectations. </li><li>Follow program policies and procedures, including those related to substitutes and instructional continuity. </li><li>Performs other duties consistent with the scope and responsibility of the position as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Abilities, & Skills</p> <ul> <li>Adult Basic Education (ABE) instructional practices and standards (CCRSAE) </li><li>Evidence-based reading and writing instruction strategies </li><li>Language acquisition and instructional strategies for multilingual learners </li><li>Assessment tools such as BEST Plus and TABE (preferred) </li><li>Culturally responsive teaching practices </li><li>Deliver effective, explicit literacy instruction to adult learners </li><li>Differentiate instruction for varied skill levels and learning needs </li><li>Build supportive relationships with adult students from diverse backgrounds </li><li>Use assessment data to guide instruction and monitor progress </li><li>Collaborate effectively with colleagues and program staff </li><li>Maintain accurate records and meet reporting requirements </li><li>Instructional planning and curriculum implementation </li><li>Classroom management in an adult learning environment </li><li>Written and verbal communication </li><li>Organization and time management </li><li>Technology integration for teaching and learning </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
