<p>Class Definition</p> <p>Within the Judicial Facilities, Operations and Security Unit and under the direction of the Assistant Buildings and Grounds Officer, the Maintenance Officer will be required to perform daily cleaning/janitorial, maintenance, and repair projects, as well as assist subordinates and/or vendors in this work. The Maintenance Officer will assist with the receiving and storage of cleaning/janitorial supplies, maintenance supplies, and building equipment, and will perform continuous inspection of facilities to identify areas that require cleaning/janitorial and/or repair work. Examples of daily work include but are not limited to: moving furniture, rubbish removal, snow removal, distributing mail, changing light bulbs, minor repair projects, assisting janitorial staff and vendors, and other work as directed by the supervisor.</p> <p>Required Qualifications for Appointment</p> <p>Education as may be gained through graduation from a senior high school or successful completion of the high school equivalency examination. Additional technical training helpful. Candidate must have a working knowledge of general building operation and maintenance activities; a working knowledge of the equipment and methods used in cleaning and custodial work; a working knowledge of the materials and equipment used in building operation and maintenance; the ability to deal effectively with supervisors, vendors and contractors. Candidate must also be physically able to perform the essential functions of the position, including the ability to lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds and to climb ladders. This position is on-call 24/7/365.
