<p>Under the direction of a qualified Dialysis RN and in accordance with approved policies, procedures and standards, the Dialysis Patient Care Techperforms tasks and responsibilities associated with the direct care needs for patients over the age of 18. The Dialysis Patient Care Technician is knowledgeable in the cause and effect of renal disease and in the procedure of hemodialysis.The DPCT gathers pertinent clinical information and communicates observations to the RN for evaluation. The PCT is responsible for the initiation, monitoring and discontinuance of the dialysis treatment, including:Cannulation of fistula and grafts, Drawing of blood samples as orderUnder the direction of a qualified Dialysis RN and in accordance with approved policies, procedures and standards, the Dialysis Patient Care Techperforms tasks and responsibilities associated with the direct care needs for patients over the age of 18. Preferred: • A concentration in electronics education in high school or post high school training. LICENSE: PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS: Minimum: • BLS must be completed within six months of employment through the RQI system during clinical orientation • Certification with a national commercially available certification program or a State program will be required after 18 months employment or attaining 18 months dialysis experience (including dialysis experience at other agencies) WORK EXPERIENCE: Minimum: • Demonstrates ability to follow directions precisely and accurately. • Previous patient care experience. Preferred: • One year medical experience. SKILLS: Minimum: • Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure, meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities and enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling. • Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and oral), analytical, and organizational skills. • Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with the public in a professional and courteous manner. • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion. • Computer literacy required</p>
