Join us, and let's improve lives together.</p> <p>Location Requirement: This position is eligible to work a hybrid schedule from the Des Moines metro area</p> <p>Manages Portfolio Analytics and Investment Accounting systems and related processes; serving as an expert for the team and main point of contact for systems providers. Perform investment management functions for non-general account portfolios with input from the investment team. Manage the impairment process for investment team, participate in quarterly impairment meetings and compliance testing for the portfolios. Oversee external manager relationships, participating in manager calls, reviewing performance and ensuring adherence to their respective IMAs. As needed, lead the department through the evaluation and selection process for new managers. Provide guidance to the cash team on investment operations. For sectors under coverage, provide ongoing coverage and analysis of current and potential investments to enhance the portfolios' risk-adjusted returns.</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Oversees Portfolio Analytics and Investment Accounting systems for use within the Investments group.</p> </li><li> <p>Oversees creation, reconciliation, and maintenance of investment holdings and transaction data using accounting platform, portfolio analytics system and Investment Manager data.</p> </li><li> <p>Acts as main point of contact for systems providers ensuring minimal disruption to day-to-day investment team operations.</p> </li><li> <p>Serves as an expert and resource for the team, helping to create and run reports for investment strategy decision-making, investment committee, rating agencies, and other stakeholders.</p> </li><li> <p>Evaluates analytics systems and implements changes if needed based on portfolio and data requirement as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Processes and transfers data daily from the accounting system to the portfolio analytics system, ensuring data accuracy for investment analysis and decision-making.</p> </li><li> <p>Compiles data for the annual Supplemental Rating Questionnaire (SRQ) to fulfill AM Best (rating agency) requests for the portfolios.</p> </li><li> <p>Oversees external manager relationships. Participates in periodic calls and reviews relevant reporting materials with existing managers.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides evaluation to ensure that managers are adhering to their respective IMAs and performing as intended.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs investment management functions by making decisions on investment strategy and implementation of non-general account portfolios including EMC Insurance Foundation and benefit plan assets with input from the investment team.</p> </li><li> <p>Focuses on the analysis of portfolio holdings, including equity, fixed income and cash-equivalent mutual funds and separate accounts.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides guidance to the cash team on processes like the daily cash sheet, trade settlement, wires, corporate actions, etc.</p> </li><li> <p>Enhances the portfolio's risk-adjusted return by conducting fundamental and relative value analysis for assigned sectors and securities</p> </li><li> <p>Researches and presents on new issues within assigned sectors each morning, including evaluating specific deal details, fundamental credit analyses, and assessments of the transaction's relative value.</p> </li></ul> <p>Education & Experience:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field</p> </li><li> <p>Seven years of experience in investment analysis and/or portfolio management in the insurance industry</p> </li><li> <p>Advanced degree in a related field OR Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation</p> </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Excellent understanding of investment analysis, insurance investment issues, asset allocation performance measurement, cash management, corporate finance and portfolio and financial theory</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent knowledge of investment operations, trade settlement, insurance products, cash flow testing and asset/liability matching</p> </li><li> <p>Strong communication, problem-solving and analytical skills</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to multitask and work independently</p> </li><li> <p>Proficiency with investment accounting software, Bloomberg and worksheet and personal computer applications</p> </li><li> <p>Strong organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail</p> </li></ul> <p>The hiring salary range for this position will vary based on geographic location, falling within either the $97,889.00 - $134,921.00 range or the $107,944.00 - $148,758.00 range. A hiring range represents a subset of the full salary range.
