The Director of ISDA is appointed by the Governor and is a member of the Governor's Cabinet. For more info click this link: http://www.in.gov/isda/3240.htm</p> <p>Salary Statement:</p> <p>The salary for this position traditionally starts at $53,222.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.</p> <p>A Day in the Life:</p> <p>The essential functions of this role are as follows:</p> <ul> <li>Work directly with the Director of the Economic Development Division to provide project management services, event coordination, and stakeholder management to support all functions of the Economic Development Division, including economic development, Indiana Grown, international trade, grant administration, grant programs, market news, and hardwood programs. </li><li>Work closely with the Director of Economic Development Programs to support the planning, administration, monitoring, reporting, and close-out of current and future grants. </li><li>Provide technical assistance, webinars and office hours for Economic Development programs, services, and grants as assigned. </li><li>Enter data into specialized databases and systems for recording and monitoring information including but not limited to industry performance, Indiana Grown, international trade, grant administration and related statistical information. </li><li>Provide information that supports the Division in creating and distributing reports, summaries, and analyses, and provide timely responses to requests for information. </li><li>Work closely with Division programs to capture and promote program highlights, including creation of computerized spreadsheets, text, and infographics that are easily shared as "one page" summaries. </li><li>Assist the ISDA Hardwoods Manager in completing administrative tasks including but not limited to weekly market reports and Indiana Hardwoods Directory updates. </li><li>Seek out and evaluate new funding opportunities and partnerships that contribute to Division priorities. </li><li>Assist Division to support conferences, events and committee meetings and contribute to engagement with industry associations and partner organizations. </li><li>Create Indiana Agribusiness/Economic Development program success stories, program impact, and media. </li><li>Help with the preparation, promotion and implementation for webinars, trade missions/shows, conferences, industry/media tours, site visits, area meetings, etc. hosted by the Division. </li><li>Work with the Communications Division to gather and disseminate agribusiness educational content for ISDA's social media, newsletters, and other digital promotions. </li><li>Support content management and updating of ISDA website pertinent to the Economic Development Division programs to ensure that resource information remains relevant and clear. </li><li>Be an active, responsive, and informative member of the ISDA Economic Development Division. Attend and participate in staff meetings, in-office and field travel as scheduled. </li><li>Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.</p> <p>What You'll Need for Success:</p> <p>The ideal candidate in this role should minimally have either</p> <ul> <li>a Master's Degree, or </li><li>a Bachelor's Degree with 1+ years of experience, or </li><li>a Associate's Degree with 3+ years of experience, or </li><li>at least 5+ years of experience applying the below, outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role. </li></ul> <p>You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:</p> <ul> <li>Specialized knowledge in program subject matter obtained through experience and/or education. </li><li>Basic knowledge of Agriculture stakeholder organizations and relevant State of Indiana agencies. </li><li>Previous experience working with agribusiness, USDA, or agriculture industry organizations. </li><li>Prior project management experience and/or event management experience. </li><li>Able to comprehend, analyze and interpret economic analysis and industry-trend documents and material. </li><li>Able to effectively lead implementation of current and future programs, providing project management support to various teams including both internal and external stakeholders. </li><li>Ability to effectively learn and navigate software systems such as eCivis, GrantSolutions, GMS, GATS, Dynamics, Constant Contact, etc. </li><li>Able to consider long-term goals and direction, implementing strategies to reach those goals. </li><li>Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships. </li><li>Able to monitor and track various metrics and develop customized reports. </li><li>Attention to detail in reporting and documentation. </li><li>Able to communicate effectively to internal and external stakeholders. </li><li>Able to manage multiple deadlines and simultaneous tasks. </li><li>Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite. </li><li>Valid driver's license. </li></ul> <p>Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:</p> <p>This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.</p> <p>Responsibility:</p> <p>The incumbent makes a substantial contribution in providing the leadership for development and implementation of Division programs. The incumbent recommends and executes changes in existing programs and practices which may influence total agency operation based on agency policies. Incumbent works independently and possesses sufficient technical authority and judgement for the work. Decisions may impact internal and external partnerships, customer relations, business development opportunities and funding opportunities. Decisions and major recommendations are reviewed for compliance with agency policy and to ensure resources are prioritized based on the strategic objectives of the organization.</p> <p>Personal Work Relationships:</p> <p>Maintaining and developing work relationships is extremely important in this position. Working closely with associates within and outside of the organization will be required daily. The incumbent works collaboratively across the agency and with external partners on activities and to resolve problems that could impact work quality.
