<p>The employee will serve as an Accounting Technician in the Accounting Section of Fiscal Service, at the Battle Creek VA Medical Center.</p> <p>Major duties include, but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Creates and posts complicated and often unusual accounting transactions. </li><li>Performs extensive analysis and reconciliations of accounts, records, and reports. </li><li>Audits account balances for accuracy and processes necessary correcting and adjusting entries. </li><li>Establishes records, maintains documentation, performs monthly reconciliations, and provides timely responses to frequent inquiries for all accounts receivables. </li><li>Processes vouchers for payment, to include vendorization, obligation, vouchering, manual posting and reconciliation to obligation documents, and payment coding activities in accordance with applicable policies and procedures. </li><li>Recommends and implements accounting procedures and methods that ensure maximum accuracy, compliance, and timeliness of accounting data and efficiency of accounting personnel. </li><li>Assists in the planning, coordinating and completion of travel profiles, plans, and expense reports for employees and/or patients. </li><li>Reviews the documents for proper authorization and ensures compliance with established regulations. </li><li>Keeps abreast of all changes to travel regulations as indicated in directives, publications, manuals, and policies to have correct information when advising travelers and to ensure the validity of travel documents. </li><li>Uses MS Office Excel to display data, create tables, graphs and spreadsheets, MS word for documents, Power Point, and MS Outlook. </li></ul> <p>Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm</p> <p>Virtual: This is not a virtual position.</p> <p>Position Description/PD#: Accounting Technician/PD81035A</p> <p>Financial Disclosure Report: Not required</p>
