We're proud of our more than sixty years' of hands-on experience designing and building analog semiconductor technology across the RF to Light spectrum.</p> <p>Job Title: Systems Design Engineer - Senior/Principal</p> <p>Role: Validation engineering</p> <p>We are looking for a talented experienced Validation Engineer to join our validation engineering team within R&D Engineering at Newport Beach location.</p> <p>Our product lines include high speed (GHz) ICs for optical media access and signal transport. These products are tested by bench-top lab equipment in block, chip and system level before moving to production. This role is to validate/verify the part based on the data sheet/standards specifications and find issues and bugs to modify the future designs.</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Validation of high-speed optical and electrical interfaces (optical lanes, SerDes, PCIe, Ethernet). Experienced with:</p> </li><li> <p>NRZ/PAMx BER testing and eye diagram analysis</p> </li><li> <p>Link margining and stress testing</p> </li><li> <p>Standard compliance point testing</p> </li><li> <p>De-embedding SI effects of high-speed interconnects</p> </li><li> <p>Experience validating optical electrical devices used for data center optical modules and high-speed interfaces such as TIAs, Drivers and Equalizers</p> </li><li> <p>Familiarity with relevant standards is highly regarded</p> </li><li> <p>Validation and design verification of TIA performance, including:</p> </li><li> <p>Bandwidth, gain, noise, linearity, and stability</p> </li><li> <p>Sensitivity and overload behavior</p> </li><li> <p>Jitter and signal-to-noise impacts on optical data paths</p> </li><li> <p>Experience correlating test results to design simulation results</p> </li><li> <p>Strong understanding of end-to-end system architecture, spanning optical front ends, high-speed electrical interfaces, firmware, drivers, and operating systems</p> </li><li> <p>Ownership of validation activities across DVT, PVT and debug activities</p> </li><li> <p>Defining the Hardware requirements and be able to run debugging of hardware-firmware-DUT</p> </li><li> <p>Development and ownership of automated validation frameworks for validation plan of record</p> </li><li> <p>Strong scripting skills in C#, MATLAB, Python</p> </li><li> <p>Automation of test execution, data capture, result analysis, and reporting</p> </li><li> <p>Strong root-cause analysis skills spanning analog, digital, software, and system domains</p> </li><li> <p>Proficient use of lab equipment including:</p> </li><li> <p>High-bandwidth oscilloscopes</p> </li><li> <p>BER testers and optical test equipment</p> </li><li> <p>Vector Network Analyzer</p> </li></ul> <p>Job Qualifications/Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>BS and 5 years' experience, or MS and 3 years' experience and education in areas related to the disciplines listed above. </li><li>Ability to reproduce, isolate, and drive closure of complex cross-functional issues </li><li>Experience validating devices against specification and compliance requirements </li><li>Support for qualification, manufacturing handoff, and volume deployment readiness </li><li>Ownership of validation strategies, coverage plans, and risk assessment </li><li>Clear communication through bug tracking, dashboards, and technical reports </li><li>Mentorship of junior engineers and leadership in technical decision-making </li><li>Ability and willingness to learn and master new disciplines and knowledge, and to work outside fields of current expertise. </li><li>Excellent communications skills and the ability to thoroughly document all work performed to a degree sufficient to pass off to sustaining engineers for long term support, and to contract manufacturers for volume production. </li></ul> <p>Working knowledge in most or all the following disciplines:</p> <ul> <li>Mechanical design of precision mechanisms </li><li>Optical system design, basic geometric optics </li><li>Electronics Design, cabling, instrumentation </li><li>Database design and usage </li><li>Software design, architecture </li><li>Fabrication methods for electro/mechanical/optical systems </li></ul> <p>The Salary Range for this position is $84,000 - $166,000.
