<p>The MindFit and Autism Support Program in the Office of Student Accommodations at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a Student Support Specialist.</p> <p>About the Opportunity</p> <p>Reporting to the Program Director, the Student Support Specialist provides direct 1:1, small group and whole group support to students enrolled in OSA Student Support Programs. The Student Support Specialist will collaborate with program staff to plan, create and facilitate meetings, workshops, social programs and other student activities and/or events. The Student Support Specialist will also assist with outreach and recruitment.</p> <p>We strongly believe in work-life balance and keeping time for things we love outside our work. Check out retirement health insurance benefits, retirement income, and FAQ's.</p> </li><li> <p>Wellness programs</p> </li></ul> <p>What You'll Do</p> <p>Student Support Services:</p> <ul> <li>Assist with planning, developing and facilitating student workshops for OSA Support Programs. </li><li>Create supplemental resources, supports and interventions for students in OSA Support Programs. </li><li>Provide 1:1 support for students in OSA Programs including but not limited to 1:1 check-ins, academic coaching etc. </li><li>Collaborate with the Director and Coordinator (s) to plan and facilitate Peer Groups, Clubs and other student social events and activities. </li><li>Offer referrals as needed including but not limited to OSA Specialist, CARE Team, Carruth Center, Student Health, WV DRS, Career Services etc. </li><li>Facilitate discussions or meetings with students and WVU Faculty/Staff as requested by the student. </li></ul> <p>Program Evaluation and Retention:</p> <ul> <li>Conduct and assist with writing session reports, student evaluations, progress reporting, and any other record keeping or data collection. </li></ul> <p>Outreach and Recruitment:</p> <ul> <li>Conduct outreach and recruitment for OSA Support Programs including but not limited to tabling events, e-mail, social media, presentations etc. </li><li>Provide information to prospective students, coaches and families. </li><li>Bachelors Degree in Clinical, Counseling or School Psychology, Education, Social Work or related Human Service field. </li><li>A minimum of one (1) year of experience working with a neurodiverse college age population. </li><li>Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered. </li><li>All qualifications must be met by the time of employment. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge, skills, and expertise required to proficiently conduct, document, and evaluate academic and executive functioning support services with a college-aged population. </li><li>Knowledge, skills, and expertise required to provide multiculturally sensitive services. </li><li>Ability to utilize electronic record system. </li><li>Strong communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills required to develop and maintain policies, procedures, and clinical delivery systems. </li><li>Team player to work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary unit. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Experience working with a neurodiverse college age population. </li></ul>
