<p>Job Description:</p> <p>POSITION GOAL:</p> <p>The goals of the ESL Teacher/Program are to assist all English Language Learners.</p> <ul> <li>In the acquisition of the necessary English language skills for social and cultural competence </li><li>In the meeting of the Pennsylvania Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening Academic Standards. </li><li>In the acquisition of English communications skills, in order to achieve educational and career success. </li></ul> <p>GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. </li><li>Possess appropriate level of education and experience to perform the essential duties relative to the position. </li><li>Ability to comprehend, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, governmental regulations, safety manuals, etc. and to generate routine reports and correspondence pertinent to the essential job duties. </li><li>Ability to communicate and to demonstrate interpersonal skills effectively in dealing with students, staff, parents, community members, and educational agencies as related to performance of the duties of the position. </li><li>Ability to perform mathematical operations and to apply mechanical skills and technical skills to accomplish the essential duties of the position. Ability to interpret and to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. </li><li>Ability to perform routine tasks cooperatively and to adjust to interruptions, variables, or changes in standardized situations. </li><li>Ability to diagnose levels and evaluate progress of students in their English language acquisition. </li><li>Ability to serve as a home/school liaison for ESL students and their families. </li><li>Ability to provide suggestions to classroom teachers on adapting lessons for the needs of ESL students. </li><li>Willingness to keep abreast of current trends and practices in the ESL field. </li></ul> <p>SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>PA Certificate Instructional I or II, ESL Program Specialist (Reading Specialist Preferred). </li><li>Knowledge of content in certification area </li><li>Classroom/group management skills </li><li>Human relations skills </li><li>Planning skills </li><li>Ability to use instructional materials and equipment </li><li>Knowledge of child growth and development </li><li>Instructional skills </li></ul> <p>You are navigating off of REAP site to the district's posting.</p> <p>OK</p>
