<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Campus Title: Maintenance Assistant I (Electrician)</p> <p>Budget Title: Maintenance Assistant I (Electrician)</p> <p>Unit: CSEA-OSU</p> <p>Professional Rank and Salary Range: SG-9, $42,641</p> <p>Duration: Calendar Year (this position works year-round)</p> <p>Brief Description of Duties:</p> <p>SUNY Morrisville is seeking a Maintenance Assistant (Electrician). Maintenance Assistants (Electrician) perform semiskilled work in the repair, maintenance, and installation of electrical systems and equipment, following applicable electric code regulations.</p> <p>Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Assists a Trades Specialist (Electrician) in installing and repairing electrical wiring by performing such tasks as cutting and bending wire and conduit, drilling holes for wiring, and pulling or pushing wiring through openings. </li><li>Replaces faulty switches, sockets, plugs, fuses, insulators, and other simple elements of electrical systems, fixtures, and appliances. </li><li>Assists in lifting, positioning and fastening objects such as wiring, conduits, and motors. </li><li>Repairs and maintains electrical equipment such as vacuum cleaners, electric ranges, and fans by adjusting, cleaning, lubricating and replacing worn or defective parts. </li><li>Replaces brushes on electric motors, and adjusts points and contacts on electric equipment. </li><li>Lays and repairs electrical cable. </li><li>As directed, makes emergency repairs to traffic signals. ? Installs and maintains lighting fixtures. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Non-competitive: Two years of full-time experience in electrical work under the supervision of a skilled tradesperson; OR completion of an appropriate two-year technical school course in the electrical trade at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services, such as the New York State Civil Service Employees AssociationPartnership (NYS CSEA-P) Applied Skilled Trades Certificate Program*; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of appropriate technical courses in the electrical trade at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services. </li><li>Successful completion of the NYS CSEA-P Applied Skilled Trades Certificate Program includes a total of 288 hours of trade-specific classroom instruction, 45 hours of technical math course work, 45 hours of technical communications course work, and 15 hours of blueprint/schematic reading course work. It does not include 4,000 hours of - 3 - on-the-job training, as required for the NYS CSEA-P Applied Skilled Trades Traineeship.
